    1. Gentlemen, if you want to get an impression of Belgrade & Serbia today, please have a look at Vlado Marinkovic's outstanding photocollection, who has also done the photo documentation of the Air Museum Belgrade http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16821 : http://www.pbase.com/vmarinkovic/profile All galleries: http://www.pbase.com/vmarinkovic Belgrade: http://www.pbase.com/vmarinkovic/belgrade His favourites: http://www.pbase.com/vmarinkovic/favourites The bridge on the drina: http://www.pbase.com/vmarinkovic/the_bridge_on_the_drina Zlatibor: http://www.pbase.com/vmarinkovic/zlatibor The artist Vlado Marinkovic vlada.marinkovic@gmail.com : Have a look and get an impression about the great country, where all these nice orders & medals are coming from . Best regards Christian
    2. Gentlemen, as already mentioned in the thread dealing with the Military Museum in Belgrade http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16728 , all the aircrafts - and the relicts of the US-planes from 1999 - can be found in a hall at the airport of Belgrade. The Air Museum Belgrade belongs to the 10 largest air museums in the world and is really worth seeing, when you arrive in Belgrade . The Belgrade photographer Vlado Marinkovic presents at his artist's website a hughe and comprehensive photo documentation of the Air Museum Belgrade: http://www.pbase.com/vmarinkovic/air_museum_belgrade Have a look! Best regards Christian
    3. Gentlemen, in the Belgrade noble district Dedinje you will find an extraordinary museum and the grave of Marshal Tito (+ the hughe collection of his orders ): http://www.muzejistorijejugoslavije.org.yu/o_muzeju.php It is worth seeing and the entrance is free. Some photographs of the location shot by Jelena "Aurorae" http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/36d50/ : Best regards Christian
    4. Early sub badge in silver Gentlemen, our member Paul "pmargulies" got one in 2005/06 for only USD 50,- in Belgrade, as he posted: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?s=&showtop...st&p=163498 . Best regards Christian
    5. Dear Paul, congratulations to your early YU sub badge for only USD 50,- you got 2005/06 in Belgrade . I paid for mine one - some years before - in Vienna USD 85,- . I also never found the later model. The collecting of authentic sub badges is rater expensive hobby . You have also US-Navy sub badges in your collection ? It is the finest dealer in militaria, orders & medals - and my favorite one - in Vienna, you mentioned above . The shop is called Antiquit?ten "Zum Doppeladler" C. Rochowanski. Adress: Opernring 9 (almost at the other side of the "Staatsoper"), 1010 Vienna, mobile phone: +43 (0) 676 33 22 781, opening hours: monday to friday: 10:00 - 13:00 & 14:00 - 18:00 and on saturday: 10:00 - 13:00. Neither a website, nor an e-mail-adress . Christine Rochowanski and her husband Hartmut Rochowanski, MA run the shop. Mr. Rochowanski is also a Major of the reserve of the Austrian Army and in terms of phaleristics maybe the expert in Austria. He acts as the Vicepresident of the "Austrian Orders Research Society" http://www.ordenskunde.at/index-e.html , which has strong ties to the "Austrian Museum of Military History" http://www.hgm.or.at/eng/ : Another place nobody should miss, when in Vienna: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?s=&showtop...st&p=163392 . At that museum you will find a complete collection of all the "Sarajevo-1914-stuff": Ferdinand's bloody tunic, couch & car. Rochowanski is maybe the largest dealer in the world for old Austrian Imperial Militaria & Orders, who offers always a hughe and comprehensive collection of these items. He often has also some YU-stuff, but mainly pre-communist orders. The prices at Rochowanski are rather fair and moderate (for a shop in the EU!). They had been also the last dealer in Vienna to offer some good stuff from the Soviet Union years ago (the Russians bought everything from the shops in Vienna ) and I got there an Motherland 2cl, Nevsky T 2 and other fine items still for a bargain. Please phone at the shop, if you want to visit, so that Mr. Rochowanski is there. Rochowanski's shop is also worth seeing, if you don't want to buy anything and the couple is very friendly. Best regards Christian
    6. Dear Nejc, no, that's not the question: My cap badge is for sure manufactured after the war! I only wanted to point out, that it's a rather old JNA-item . Best regards Christian
    7. Finnish Winter War & Mannerheim Line - basic informations Gentlemen, for tackling with Belaruski's tricky question, some basic informations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War Best regards Christian
    8. Dear Belaruski, when the "Winter War" is correct and the Bolshevik in question died before the beginning of that war, than the Red Army smashed the corpse of the poor fellow in a coffin through the Mannerheim Line ? Best regards Christian
    9. Dear Belaruski, to make your question a bit more precise: Finnish Winter War and the Bolshevik did not smash as a dead corpse - as "El Cid" - through the Mannerheim Line . Are my assumptions correct ? Best regards Christian
    10. Gentlemen, I found that - more modern - cap badge, which is offered in the internet for USD 40,- (!) as a cap badge to the Elite Forces: Screwplate is different, but IKOM ZAGREB. Best regards Christian
    11. Dear Jani, will there be more auctions in Helisinki in the future ? What has been your impression about the auction results? Best regards Christian
    12. Dear Rick, do you have found any sources in the internet about such interesting badges ? Best regards Christian
    13. Dear Belaruski, congratulations to your victory . So it is again your task to put a tricky question . Best regards Christian
    14. Dear Jim, Mr. "slava1stclass" also presented that Glory 1cl at GMIC: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16794 . Best regards Christian
    15. Dear Dragomir, many thanks for your confirmation . So, either full decorations or only minis - and black shoes . I love that special photograph with the funny cake and all the big buba . That cake suits more to the birthday party of my seven year old daughter Milica, than to the old Marshal's last birthday. I also like the looks of the lady with the plate to Marshal Tito . The death & funeral of Tito had been really something and Yugoslavia felt, that now the NATO (with strong support from "neutral" Austria) will try to crack great Yugoslavia into small tiny pieces . Belgrade had been one of the most important capitals in the world in the past. Now it is only a fine & pleasant location to live - if you have some money . Best regards Christian
    16. Dear Nejc, that's right, but he offers that early submarine badge in gold for USD 230,-: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16805 . Best regards Christian
    17. Dear Nick, that's absolutly true . The HGM http://www.hgm.or.at/eng/ has also a breathtaking section of the Austrian Navy, which had been the most modern & advanced fleet in WW I, despite the fact, that they never got outside the Adriatic Sea . Battle of Lissa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Lissa_(1866) : The section covering the years from 1918 to 1945 is also worth seeing. There is also a large collection of tanks (1943 - 1990s) outside of the building: Some weeks ago, the HGM got a new, rather young, director, Dr. Mario Christian Ortner, MA, who started to improve a lot of shortcomings. Director Ortner: The HGM is one of the rare museums in Vienna, that have open on Mondays! The entrance fee is with EUR 5,10 very moderate in comparison to other museums in Vienna. You will find also a pleasant small restaurant - with genuine cheapest "military" prices! - and an interesting book shop inside. Free parking in front of the building. Whenever you are in Vienna, don't miss to visit the "Museum of Military History" . Best regards Christian BTW: If you have some special interests in terms of HGM, please feel free to contact me - I might arrange something for you .
    18. Gentlemen, I am not an expert in Austrian Awards (I collect Soviet & Yugoslavian Awards), but I am a native Austrian . Scan #2, down in the center, that seems to be a typical "Krukenkreuz" from the period of "Austrofaschismus" 1933 - 1938. The oak leaves might indicate special merits. It is for sure NOT an official order, but maybe some "Badge of Excellence" for merits to clerical fascism in Austria . Scan #1: The head of the eagle is the traditional symbol of the Austrian Police Forces, but it has not the form of the "Krukenkreuz" of clerical fascism. Maybe an special - non state - award for high merits to the police from about 1919 to 1932 . Best regards Christian
    19. Gentlemen, maybe the old lady needed the gold of the star for her dentist and replaced the star . That should have also happened with the golden "hammer & sickle" of the OPW 2cl ... Best regards Christian
    20. Balkan Antiques Gentlemen, I have found another dealer for YU-Militaria in the internet: http://www.balkanantiques.com/rw/home Does anyone know about "Balkan Antiques" ? Best regards Christian
    21. Supply Academy of the JNA Gentlemen, I have one of these Academy Badges in my collection http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?s=&showtop...st&p=157108 . There have be some other Military Academy Badges - like in the CCCP - for communist Yugoslavia ? Supply Academy: Best regards Christian
    22. YU Submarine Badge with gold wash - later version of the 1970s:
    23. Gentlemen, some years ago I had been lucky to get the early variant (1960) of the YU Submarine Badge for enlisted men in silver at my dealer in Vienna - for officers or people, who served more than 10 years it has a gold wash. I had to pay USD 85,- for the silver badge http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?s=&showtop...st&p=157108 (top right on the scan), what is a hughe amount of bucks for a YU badge . But it was genuine - compared with the photographs in the "Submarine-Badge-Guide" - and in perfect condition. These badges are rare, because Yugoslavia had never that hell lot of subs in service: Most of the time around 2 to 5 submarines in the fjord of Kotor. Does anyone have any further informations about YU Submarine Badges ? That's an old YU Submarine Badge (1960) with gold wash, which is now offered for USD 230;- : Best regards Christian
    24. Dear "slava1stclass", Jim already showed that crude fake some days before to us: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?s=&showtop...st&p=162440 . Best regards Christian BTW: You shall buy that item for that price ?
    25. Dear Nejc, now I can see the attached photographs . Seems to be a nice, small, but comprehensive collection. To you have some close up pictures to the medals & badges ? Best regards Christian
