    1. Dear Belaruski, getting down to world history of the (authentic) socialist movement, there are 4 unique persons (the rest might be "followers"): Marx - Engels - Lenin - Stalin Order (DDR) - Prize (DDR) - Order (CCCP) - Order-Project (CCCP) Best regards Christian
    2. IKOM-Zagreb Gentlemen, does anyone have any informations - history, photographs, etc. - about the YU-Mint IKOM in Zagreb ? Best regards Christian
    3. Dear Leigh, sorry, the numbers do not correspond . If there are any numbers at the large document, then these numbers are only internal numbers of the chancellory (starting with each year new), when they issued the document. Best regards Christian
    4. Dear Valuk, welcome to GMIC-YU . Please, could you tell us more about your medals . Best regards Christian
    5. Dear Luka, many thanks for your expertise Could you tell to us what's written on Ilja's table-medal ? Best regards Christian
    6. Gentlemen, on Thursday this week I got my "Order of Bravery" from Marko Singidunum. From our new GMIC-member "wlodzimierz" I will get the "Medal of Bravery" as a present. Best regards Christian
    7. Dear Ed, dear Sasa, last thursday Milan from "Singidunum" delivered a "Orden of Bravery" (YU-made) for mere EUR 7,- to me . Now I have that order for the case, which I had for years (I bought a CCCP-Red Banner in that case in Belgrade). Best regards Christian
    8. Lieber Milan, many thanks for your expertise . So, we people in Vienna can be proud with the craftmanship of our old "k.u.k Hoflieferanten" juwellers . It's a sad story about the destruction of the dies . Many thanks for sharing scans of your incredible collection of old Serbian awards with us . Best regards Christian
    9. Dear Glenn, try it maybe with "Klosowsky" or "Klosovsky" ? That would sound also very "slavonic" ... Best regards Christian BTW: It is also not so unlikly, that our officer got his academic grade after WW I.
    10. Dear Auke, very interesting documents and a beautyful OPW 2cl . He should have received also Military Merit Medal for 10 years in service ? I assume, that one RS, the RB + the Lenin are for long service: 15, 20 & 25 years ? The citiation about the documents of the SS-Panzergrenadierdivision "Totenkopf" is highly interesting . Is it possible to get more detailed informations out of your documents ? A friend of mine, SS-Rottenf?hrer Ing. Richard Zimmermann (he died as an old man last year), served in the "Totenkopf"-unit (one of the Sturmgesch?tz-Abteilungen) from the very beginning, from the mid 1930s, till to the very end, Vienna, april 1945, constantly. Years ago he published his memoirs and gave a very comprehensive history of the "Totenkopf"-unit to me. I will be back to my library in Vienna end of next week and maybe I might find something from the German side about these days, when comrade Savelyev captured the documents. Best regards Christian
    11. Gentlemen, both table-medals look really great and impressive . Could one of the native speakers tell us, what is written on Waldemar's plaque with Daedalus & Ikarus on ? Luka, for what did the submariner get that hughe table-medal ? Best regards Christian
    12. Lieber Waldemar, that document with the roll looks really great and impressive . Best regards Christian
    13. Dear Sasa, I "borrowed" these scans from Bryan "Soviet" (he had them from e-bay), which show the 3rd class of the Order of Brotherhood & Unity: What to our experts say to that item ? That order had been offered at e-bay some time ago for USD 200,- to USD 300,- Best regards Christian
    14. Dear Ed, well, that aspect of YU-phaleristics should be researched - I also have no idea about that mess ... Yugoslavia had also no order booklets for everyday use, too proove, that you are legitimated to wear your orders - that's very much the style of the Western world . Best regards Christian
    15. Gentlemen, our researcher just sent my an e-mail, that he will go on with the research in citations and recommendations . Best regards Christian
    16. Dear "usairforce", a very "special" additional ribbon at the first medal. Best regards Christian
    17. Dear Ed, if the "Friedrich-Engels-Prize" included a medal, then he should be listed. I also would include the "Order of Stalin"-project, where we have a number of (rather similar looking) prototypes AND it had been Stalin's will to have that order issued after his death. So it would be a disgrace against comrade Stalin will, not to include his order in the list . There is a comrehensive book about that order, but only in Russian language . What about Th?lmann- & Andropov-Medals - I think, there are any ? Best regards Christian
    18. Dear Paul, sorry .... , it had been my mistake - he got both medals: Military + Labour - it's your point . I need new glasses ... Best regards Christian
    19. Dear Ed, congratulations to that outstanding Navy-NCO-group . Everything is inside: Uzhakov-, Odessa-, Sevastopol- and Caucasus-Medal . I myself have a very incomplete Navy-"group" in my collection: Nachimov-Medal s/n. 2200 + Medals-booklet (awarded to a certain Gnultshinsky) + a spare ribbon for the Nachimov. But the Medal for Valour (with s/n. ) is missing and also the whole rest of the unnumbered medals . Once I will have that "group" researched ... Best regards Christian
    20. Dear Ed, congratulations - a really fantastic group with tons of history . For that "jewel-collection" you might have transfered some amount of bucks to Dave's account . The Kiev-Medal might be at the wrong place, as far, as I know ? Dear Paul, if you look at the history of citations and into the regulations of the Nevsky, you will see, that the Nevsky is THE typical award for commanders of platoons and also of a company. So, the majority of the Nevsky-bearers got their orders for deeds, when they had the rank lieutenant or captain. Kutuzov & Suvorov (specially the 3rd classes and partly the 2nd classes) had been for higher ranking officers. Best regards Christian
    21. Dear Ed, congratulations - great group + great research . Your comrade lost his legs during the "Operations Mars" - Zhukov's greatest defeat, as we know -, which took place parallel to the destruction of Hitler's 6th Army in Stalingrad. The Soviets had terrible and unbelievable losses during the massacres around Rezhev. In the planning at the STAVKA "Mars" had been more important than Stalingrad - in reality it had been the other way round (the Soviets never estimated so many German, Romanian and Italian forces in and around Stalingrad!). This OPW 1cl is an award from a rare und unknown battle with a great citation. Best regards Christian
    22. Dear Paul, I assume, that the OPW 1cl (1985) is just missing in the group, but he got him for his severe wounds. It is not a Labor Victory medal, but just the normal Military Victory medal. Best regards Christian
    23. Andropov-Medal Gentlemen, as far, as I know, the CCCP or RF issued a Andropov-Medal for meritorious workers in the secret service ? Best regards Christian
    24. Friedrich Engels & Teddy Th?lmann Gentlemen, I guess, that the DDR (GDR) had awards dealing with Engels and Th?lmann ? Best regards Christian
    25. Dear Paul, yes & no ! There had been the project of an Order of Stalin during Stalin's lifetime, there are some prototypes around, but Stalin suspended the Order and decided, that the comrades should issue such an order after his death. As we know from history, his "comrades" didn't issue that beautyful order . The Order of Stalin should have ranked above or below the Order of Lenin. We have an (rather dull & ugly) Order of Stalin issued in the RF by Miss Sazhi Umalatova from Georgia. He can buy that award for a few bucks and it is not an official award. Here is the GMIC-Umalatova-thread with some scans of the Order of Stalin: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=20823 Best regards Christian
