    1. UPDATE:- With regards this item:- Romanian Military Aviation Museum, March 19th 2011 visit. The only drone(s) operated during Western Pact times was the Tu-143 Reis, it was called VR-3 in Romania. Probably 12 were acquired around 1983 and based at Mihail Kogalniceanu, operated by the 143rd Pilotless Recon Squadron. They were both the TV and photo recon versions. One of them, serial 6223, was in static display at ROIAS 2001. They were retired from service shortly after and recently scrapped. Reportedly only two were left, one is displayed in the Aviation Museum in Bucharest, serial 8201. Pictures here: http://romanian-spotters.forumer.ro/t912-tu-143-vr-3-reys Kevin in Deva.

    5. My friend is trying to locate more items, however, he thinks some objects were disposed of by his elderly Mother in the immediate post communist period after the Revolution of 1989. 7. Hallo Rex, Thanks for the picture, its hard to be sure seeing the picture size is small, but the brass screw-back might be a replacement, this would not be hard to do, and in my opinion was very common to see, as the same style of screw-back could be found on many R.P.R. badges including the Radar Technicians badges:- Example of the screw fittings, here fixed inverse to the rear of Radar Technician badges of the R.P.R. period. Kevin in Deva.
    8. Can you get a closer scan of the cockade in the cap? Kevin in Deva.
    9. Interesting to see yours TeaRex, to my eyes I already detect a slight variation with regards the tank barrels, the one on the right, in mine as you look at the picture seems to point more level than the one in yours! Can you post a picture of the rear of yours? Kevin in Deva.

    13. Dear Christy, I have forwarded your details to my brother Kieron, he is over Croydon way, and Secretary of the United Nations Veterans Association, I expect he will give you a bell with regards this matter over the next few days. Sorry I cannot do more for you myself but I am along way from your side of Europe. Anyway do remember to check back and let us know how you get on, also if you wish to share any stories from your time in the military please feel free to add them or share any pictures you might have, for that you will have to get a member of the younger generation scan them to computer and add them to your posts. Wishing you and yours a pleasant weekend from the depths of sunny Transylvania. Kevin in Deva.
    14. Hallo Christy, the normal procedure would be to visit any Irish Military Barracks or Reserve Defence Force Office and obtain the proforma for applying for a replacement medal or set of medals, once obtained and returned then the process starts for you to receive a replacement set of Irish Military awards, you would also be eligible to receive the Irish United Nations Service Medal for Peacekeeping. However the United Nations Service Medal (for any United Nations Peacekeeping Mission service) is not covered as a free replacement however these are easily found for sale on the Internet, or you have to submit an application via the Irish Defence Forces and pay the fee to cover the cost of the medal. You might be also interested to know about the United Nations Veterans Association in London I will contact my brother Kieron, who is the Secretary of Post 1 Felix-Grant-DSM-UK located in London, and ask is it possible for you to apply through there organisation. You will need to provide some form of information, such as Army number, unit at home in Ireland, Unit & Year served in the Congo . . . etc . . . etc . . . Kevin in Deva (ex Irish Army & U.N.I.F.I.L. veteran of UN Peace-keeping in South Lebanon).
    15. Its a Fantasy piece, there never was an official Polish Inter-Allied Victory Medal, so therefor there can be no unofficial one. Kevin in Deva.
    16. Congratulations on your new acquisitions, its great to get items with cases and paper work together! Kevin in Deva.
    17. Just to clarify number 2 is a campaign medal for the Crossing of the Danube in the Balkan War of 1913. Number 3 could as easily be a 1916-1919 version for service in the re-occupation of Romanian Territories in Bas-arabia, Transylvania and the Occupation of Budapest, immediate post WW1. Kevin in Deva.
    18. A great picture Its a British George V Distinguished Conduct Medal (in total 25,000 made), these medals plus the Military Medal, amongst others, were sent to Romania to be dispensed to Romanian military personnel who were deemed worthy to receive them, they were issued unnamed. Kevin in Deva. PS. I have a George V MM in my collection which I located here in Romania.
    19. Just a quick note as I am busy today at home, A look through some of the Threads and posts will give you some idea:- http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/33424-identification-of-ribbon-bar/ http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/27926-another-interresting-photos/ http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/26090-help-identifying-gruppenfuehrer/ http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/20326-two-ribbon-bars/ Kevin in Deva.
    20. Many thanks for the correction I was relying on memory of something seen about 14 years back. Kevin in Deva.
    21. Are you trying to depict his full parade medal bar with medals, or the mini ribbon bar as worn every day while in WW2 uniform? While not being "an expert" some observations. You are right to assume some of the awards would not be displayed in the WW2 period. Some info with regards the list:- Prussian 1914 Iron Cross II Class, (regardless of when in WW1 issued.) Prussian 1914 I Class(regardless of when in WW1 issued,) worn on the lower left breast pocket. Only one class of wound badge is displayed on the lower part of left breast pocket. In this case to the right of the Iron Cross I Class. However, as he has a Nazi 1939 Iron Cross award he could sport a WW1 Cross with Nazi 1939 spange fixed to the upper arm (eagle with outstretched wings over wreath with swastika over the date 1939. From 1934 onwards he would have been entitled to wear the Hindenburg Cross with swords for a Combatant. Kevin in Deva.
    22. Hi Gents, even if put together by a money conscious gent the way the ribbon of the Prussian War Help Service Cross has been added looks dodgy to my eyes. Is it me or is the placing of the Hindenburg Cross at number 4 incorrect? The placing of the Württemberg Military Service medal to the end looks odd as well. Kevin in Deva.
    23. I recall seeing years ago, while living in Germany a badge for T.N. "Technisches Notruf" sp ?? on a black uniform A post WW2 organisation of some kind, maybe this is connected. Kevin in Deva
