Campaign medal ribbons
Kev in Deva replied to TS Allen's topic in Great Britain: Orders, Gallantry, Campaign Medals
The dye / colours can tend to run even with cold water, unless modern replacements can be located then I would leave them alone or consider turning them inside out. Kevin in Deva. -

Kev in Deva replied to Corabia Alex's topic in United States of America
Great picture and some interesting info contained with it. You have the guys name, including Family name, the fact that he way in the Chicago area. Some type of Legion cadet, dated to 1949, I wonder if he went into the military during the Korean War time.? He writes on the front naming his Romanian.Hungarian relatives, Auntie Irene, Uncle Dumetrie, Cousin Raduie (?) I wonder is it possible to do any form of online search in the USA about him. Can you explain why two threads for the same question? Perhaps if you were to elaborate more with regards what you are asking, then somebody here on the Forum might be able to help with your question. Kevin in Deva.

Diameter:- 32mm In Tombac with artificial patina. The ribbon ring set up is very similar to the Romanian 1941 "Crusade Against Communism" Medal of WW2. The text to the rear translates to "WINTER CAMPAIGN". With no Maker mark or designer name. Kevin in Deva  -

The example pictured sold very recently on Evil-Bay USA for $2,950.00 More detail will be added as I research more about this rare medal. Kevin in Deva.

BELLU CEMETERY March 19th 2011 Visit:- Generalul NICOLAE MÀRÀSESCU Knight of the Order of M. VITEAZU INVALID OF WAR. Took part in the Campaigms of:- 1877-78 (Independence War.) 1913 (Balkan War.) 1916-18 (First World War.) Died on the 25th February 1934. Now some of you might be scratching your heads with regards the picture of the General, as clearly the pictures are missing from the monument. However sometimes it pays to look at the back of the monuments:- Kevin in Deva.

BELLU CEMETERY March 19th 2011 Visit:- The inscription loosely translates to:- NICU T. HARITON Lt. Reserve Reg 3 Heavy Artillery, Decorated with Commemorative Cross "Marasesti" Born 6 February 1895 - Died: 1 March 1919 He took an active part in the war for unifying the nation. The medal appears to be an artistic rendition of the Romanian Commemorative Cross of War with the "MARASESTI" battle bar. Possibly the award came Postmortem and the family had it added to the picture for the monument. Kevin in Deva.
