    1. Hallo Gents, I picked these two medals up from a young chap at the Hobby Club in Deva today, he said he was 3 years in the LÈGION ÈTRANGÈRE with a Cavalry unit. I asked him why he was selling his medals and he just shrugged his shoulders and said he did not want them any more I was under the impression it was a 5 year contract in the Lègion he would not give me his name either, he had some insignias, four in total and along with the medals and he was looking for 150 Euros, far to high a price in my opinion, he walked away, but 20 mins later came back and offered me the two medals for 30 Euro, I actually gave him 40 Euro, and again tried to find out why he was getting rid of them but he refused to tell.I will try and find out what unit emblem he was offering by looking online. 2. Apart from the swords on the first & second ribbon I believe it to be an original, ok bar, its possible that the original owner embellished it for more "bling-bling." You always have the option of removing the erroneous swords or leaving it as is. Kevin in Deva
    3. The bar looks to be an original period piece, but I have to comment the swords on the cross of Romanian Medical Merit are wrong. It looks like he was a Navy Medical Doctor possibly deployed in the Crimea or the evacuation of, I would also expect to see the mini bar on his "Crusade Against Communism" Medal for "Mare Negrea" / Black Sea. 4. Swedish Military items have a connection with 3 crowns. I have seen a few "Freemason" medals from various lands, and all have a good degree of quality about them. Kevin in Deva.
    5. By pot metal I mean a combination of cheap alloys from Aluminum / lead / zink type mixtures, it looks to have been cast then filed to clean off the flash and to add some details. It does not look to be of real silver, and carries no hallmarks or maker-marks from what I can see. Can you give us an indication of size? Kevin in Deva.
    6. Well you did ask, so here goes. Nothing in it says anything specifically Nordic to me, lets see you have an obvious Cross, so a reference to Christianity, as could the St.Andrews Cross shape in between the arms of the main cross, A 4 pointed Star shape that could indicate the points of a Compass, I see what could be considered to be moon shapes on the arms of the cross or stylized letter "C", A twist of rope in a circle, with the same twist under the crown, there appears to be no "claws" to hold the stones of the crown in place so set in with some type of glue would indicate stones or glass (low value). The dimensions of the Arms of the Cross are poorly formed and not all matching, the workmanship is rather sloppy particularly the upper left arm of the St. Andrews Cross. The semi-circle on the top arm of the cross is off center as well. Kevin in Deva
    7. Hallo Tony if I recall correctly .303 Ammo with strands of cordite is actually .303 Mk 7z and used in machine guns, its more powerful than a normal .303 rifle round, due to the pressure required to re-cock the machine gun for the next/continuing shot. I remember in my time in the Irish Army attending a Reserve Defence Force Battalion Rifle Shoot, when a .303 Mk 7z was mistakenly introduced into a .303 Rifle, upon shooting the entire bolt of the rifle was blown to the rear and off the weapon, taking the lower right ear lobe of the young chap using it. 8. In my opinion, it looks like the crown held some coloured stones at some stage, looking at the poor definition and manufacture in what appears to be pot metal I would go for some type of costume jewelry. Kevin in Deva
    9. With regards post Number 6:- The rear of the bar, it was sold out of Australia and the seller has quite a few suspect groups on offer over the last couple of years. My advice avoid this seller and his offers. Kevin in Deva.
    10. Hi Chris, simple question for you what type of ammo is it? Kevin in Deva.
    11. Hallo erin, welcome to the G.M.I.C. our members are more than happy to try and help you identify your items, we have a specific section devoted to helping with unknown items and if you were to post 1-3 items a week say over the next few months I am sure we could help you identify the items correctly. To help identify the items pictures of both sides of the medals would be a great help or even scans of the medals. Might just be the thing to help pass the time over the next few months. And again welcome to the Forum. Kevin in Deva.

(Romanian Railways) collar tab from the Communist Period, note the use of silver bullion around the edges, its missing a star but I hope to come across one at the Collectors Fairs. 13. I say possibly because I have yet to check my reference pictures to fully i.d. the items. Kevin in Deva.
    14. In my opinion Tim, they are Veteran added, "Big is better Bling-Bling" Unofficial size stars and possibly officially tolerated. Kevin in Deva.
    15. Gents any idea whats marked on the bottom of this one and its significance? Kevin in Deva
    16. Quietly celebrating 7 years of marriage on 2nd August at home with the wife.

    17. Is it possible to get an enlarged / cropped section of the picture with the trolly-bus conductor and officer to his right? Kevin in Deva.
    18. Leather inserts for the knee area on the pants as well. Kevin in Deva.
    19. In my opinion either a Senior NCO or Officer, as the service medals to both groups used the same ribbon, hard to tell without ever seeing his awards, or a picture. Kevin in Deva.
    20. Nice collection of awards, but looking at the way the reverse looks on the fretted / cut-out model particularly the way it crops close to the dates I suspect this is an unofficial veteran alteration to an official medal or is there documentary evidence to say otherwise? Kevin in Deva.
