Sal Williams Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Here is one that was offered by Hermann Historica.I believe it to be a fake. I dont like the pebbling , nor the "Godet" engraving among other things. What are your thoughts.
Jacques Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 It is difficult to say, so few are available and very few collectors get one in hand. Nevertheless, the engraving do not match to what I know, or saw . Concerning the cross itself, I can't honestly say. the pebbling looks correct.May be some of you have better comparatives picsjacques
Sal Williams Posted August 3, 2006 Author Posted August 3, 2006 Jacques, the one I saw at Wolf and hardin seemed absolutly real. This one is not as nice. The pebbling looks different and the engraving is not right IMO. I would think they would all be of the same consistant quality because Godet made all of them I believe and there were so few. Wouldnt they all be the same except for the hand finishing? I would expect no room for variants.
Paul R Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Hi Sal!What would an original sell for on today's market?
Jacques Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Hi Sal!What would an original sell for on today's market?Around 75000?
Stan Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I was offered a cased example a while back that cost ?35,000 so there appears to be a wide variation in prices. Here are the pics

Jacques Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Hi,Don't forget that these crosses are larger than the normal one : 58mm instead of 56mmhere is a blury pic of an old german magazine
CHE Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I was offered a CASED example ...HelloStan, is it possible to see the case of cross, please
Douglas 5 Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Hi Stan :Is there a 53 on yours too , just hidden by the pin maybe ?Douglas
Jim Baker Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Interesting that in the magazine photo, the bottom arm of the Swaz looks trimmed off.
Douglas 5 Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Think that is just the shadow casted from the light comming from the top right corner .
Stan Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Hi Stan :Is there a 53 on yours too , just hidden by the pin maybe ?DouglasDouglas,Here is a shot which includes the "53"
Douglas 5 Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Thanks Stan, that is the closes I will ever get to one.
Jacques Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Hi Stan,Except the pin which seems to be shorter, your cross looks like the one presented in the german magazine. But the price it has been proposed to you doesn't match to the current prices.Do you know its characteristics ?thanksjacques
