J Temple-West Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Steve, That's the way I like to see them. Silver wash to the eagle, late reverse setup. Very nice!
Steve K. Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Thanks guys! The black wreath is always black. It never flakes off or is painted on...always dark black, as if the pigment is part of the zinc.I'll post a photo-merge of hinge, pin, catch, maker mark & rivets soon. One point...this is the first LW qualification badge I've owned with a steel (well rusted) pin. Unusual? Yes...but fits the evolution of Juncker badges.
Steve K. Posted September 8, 2006 Author Posted September 8, 2006 Please post any other Unqualified Gunners badges in your collection. I am actually looking for pics of one made by Assmann.
Stan Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Steve,Here's a couple of pictures of my Luft un-qualified air gunners badge by Assman. It is also "DRGM" marked.Stan
J Temple-West Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Nice piece, Stan, A good example of how to carry out a cost cutting exercise and get over the lack of raw materials for this late series by using their earlier aluminium wreath die.
ERIC Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Great Assmann UAG Stan! @ Steve - is that oxidation on the wreath of your example, especially around the catch area?? Just curious. I've personally never come across a UAG from the Juncker firm before, but I agree that it would fit the time frame of the war.ERIC
