Chris Boonzaier
Expensive Fake "Colonial" http://www.ebay.de/itm/Vorlaufiger-Ausweis-Eisernes-Kreuz-1-Klasse-Lindi-DOA-1916-105735/232261358371?_trksid=p2060778.c100276.m3476&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140725133650%26meid%3D0c2954d567be4eef815c142394fd057a%26pid%3D100276%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D252683276881
Tony
Apart from having a lot of experience with German docs, what's the major sign you see? Is it the rubber stamp, the handwriting or the poor looking quality print? All three look dodgy to me but I only have one or two German docs. Chris Boonzaier
Hi Tony, There are quite a few red lights on that one, the biggest one being I saw a shady dealer with about 10-15 blanks of this doc at a show ;-)
speedytop
Hi, I have contacted the seller. He wrote me, that it is definitely an original: "Es handelt sich definitiv um ein Original." The handwriting is very unusual, like a child at the end of the first school year. Füsilir is wrong, it must be Füsilier. No one wrote the date in this time with a 0 > 6.09.1916. And why only the month? The day must logically be the same > 06.09.1916. The paper looks like a vacat page of an old book, see the horizontal lines (in my picture in red). That is not the normal document paper. The printing of the ornamental frame is uncomplete. Uwe
Chris Boonzaier
Thanks Uwe, I have seen about 4-5 over the years on ebay and the pile of blanks. On the first page of this thread there are more.....
speedytop
The document in Post 5 show the same writer, 15 months before in another unit (!). You can see there the also wrong written date with the 0 in 5.06.1915. After a second contact the seller wrote me, that I'm not able to read the old German writing : (Sie können also weder die Schrift lesen, weil da ja wohl eindeutig Füsilier steht,...) But it is definitely wrong written "Füsilir". Uwe
Chris Boonzaier
If anyone can read the writing it's you :-) Here are some more examples... http://www.kaiserscross.com/76501.html
