Your screwback ORB, the Red Star, the ORB 2nd award and the Kutuzov were awarded for bravery. Only the Lenin (25 years) and the last two Red Banner(20 and 30 years) are Long-Service awards.

I don?t know, why the researcher think, the Kutuzov won?t be interesting. But he has a lot of experience, so i am inclined to trust his judgement. Maybe someone else can clear up this point.

The researcher said that high Kutuzovs were often issued for planning campigns rather than fighting them, but the only way to find out properly would be to research it, so watch this space

I have not managed to get the citation translated yet, but I have just spent my Russian lesson tanslating his award card and I spotted somthing intresting on the section about ere the recepiant currently lives it says he lives in a Millitary Town Georgia

Comrade Zharlamov A.D in the post of commander of 429 GAP RGK since the beginning of its formation (in 1939).

The personnel of the regiment are well trained at this time and at present is well put together, the combat crews are well coordinated.

By the skillful combat leadership, in the year of war, comrade Zharlamov knew how to preserve 70% of regular service personnel.

In combat putting together the arrangement of combat dispatchment, comrade Zharlamov showed exclusive perseverance and attained, in the year of war, properly training, endurance of personnel in the war against German fascism.

The personnel of the composition were the personification of the irreconcilable hatred for the enemy, and the love of devotion to the party of Lenin-Stalin and there socialist motherland.

By the personnel example of comrade Zharlamov it brought out in the personnel of the composition courage, durability and firm will in the fight against the enemy.

The personnel of the composition are strong and are steadfast in combat.

Comrade Zharlamov his entire work was always performed in the complete agreement with the commissioner with which he has a good and complete coordination in the work

By the monolithic work with the commissioner of the people of the quantitative and qualitative the spirits of the Communist Union of youth grow by personnel.

The Party cell grew by 11 and the nucleus of Communist Union of youth composed of 82% of entire composition.

In the time of the patriotic war, by the fire of a 42 dzot'a, 8 stations of point, 39 fortified structures, 120 shelters were destroyed

They exploded: 10 storages with ammunition. Burnt the storage for GSM. They destroyed a battery, 25 mini batteries, 77 machine guns. Points, 16 mortars and 14 instruments of the Great Patriotic War.

They killed 2200 soldiers and the officers of enemy infantry. They crushed 46 art- of battery, 82 mini batteries, 19 mortars, 110 machine guns, 7 separate instruments, 13 NP To17 messenger columns of infantry and 16 convoys of the enemy.

For highly training, displaying courage in combat, organizational discipline of personnel, which was displayed in the fight against Fascism, it is presented to awarding him of the title of guard

That is one hell of a citation-- 30% losses as a GOOD thing AND he disobeyed his General ...

one wonders what happened to HIM, leaving orders to abandon equipment, oh my.

First "Disregarded Higher Orders" I've ever seen... and interesting how it mentions 3 times as many soldiers were recommended for awards as got them.
