A Godet bar - opinion?

On Ebay Germany, this bar is offered. It looks quite good, but the seller is a well-known tailer who has - if I remember correctly - not sold one authentic bar, but many newly sewn ones.

 

Is this a nice Godet one, or is he a damn good faker?

 

(the stichting on the left and right of the reverse?!)

The running stitch on the reverse looks pretty funky, especially for a Godet. You'd expect a whip stitch. I'd give it a miss.

I would think this is only worth the value of the individual pieces!!

The stitching is indeed not correct and constant everywhere.....

One would expect to find a overall constant appearance....

I think, i would have returned this bar to Godet

Thats not the typical Godet mounting style in my opinion, so i would give it a miss.

Agree with the others and from the pics, the backing looks awful 'felty' rather than wool. Too fuzzy from what you normally see. Could be original parts with modern backing and a scrapped Godet label lifted off a trashed bar? Steve

Mmm... I didn't like this spange from the beginning for the already mentioned comments. To put better into words what we are trying to say, I am posting a couple of example of my "real" almost unworn Godet medal bars' backings for comparison.

Btw I think the medal are originals.
