Great Dane
Hi Marc,First of all, we don't know if this group is 'identified' in the final auction catalog. But there is a silent agreement in the forum not to reveal the recipient of auction items which are auctioned off as unidentified, i.e. to not do the research for them and raise the price.I'm sure a few people in here can identify the recipient, so you could try to PM them /Mike

Guest Rick Research
This group came up here before in a post maybe 2 weeks ago.It is a "bingo" group, with a combination that is unique. Well, at least with the right as yet unpublished award rolls. Price is staggering, so anything that increases the price IF neither the consignor nor the auctioneer-- BOTH of whose business it is to know whose belongings they've got-- do NOT know... why give two strangers more money in their pocket for free?On the other hand, I very much doubt at the price this is being offered. that there WILL be much higher action. While instantly recognizable, the recipient was... obscure and of little importance aside to maybe his children and family pets! Claudio
I saw on person this group at the IWB in Stuttgart; it looks good but still, as Rick says, the starting price is already out of this world... I calculated what I could give for such bar and I came up with around Eur 4'300.-. That is the price I would have paid the owner of this bar directly. Now this bar also if it sells at the "Schatzpreis" or initial estimated price with commissions will be and postage I would have to pay around Eur 5'860.- (more than USD 7'800.-, about CHF 9'500.-!!!).I enclose the picture of the auction house (online catalogue).Ciao,Claudio
eitze
That would be a nice addition for my Waldeck Collection But what about the ribbon - they look soo new to me ???Were they new mounted?greetingseitze
Claudio
@ eitze: I saw the bar being displayed behind glass and it looked like a Godet mounting, but I'm not 100% sure. Sometimes bars are so pristine, because they have been worn just in special occasion and put back in their cases or shelves, protected from light, dust and humidity.Ciao,Claudio
Jacky
What is the grandcross on the ribbonbar placed before the marianerkreuz?Kind regards,Jacky Edited March 28, 2007 by Jacky
