EK 1870 Modern Repro? IRON CROSS 1870 I Class

Hallo Chaps,

any ideas? I find the name stamped to the lower arm rear and the pin stamping to seem very modern for a 1870 piece?

Seller is claiming it to be an old copy (as in replacement) piece.

If a fake any idea when they were first encountered??

Thanks for posting this item. It is without a doubt a modern creation. My guess is that it was made within the last ten (10) years or so. This is a modern forgery meant to deceive collectors. Fortunately, some very key details are lacking to make it resemble an original. Beware, there are VERY good copies out there that have been accepted as originals in some highly acclaimed recent publications.

I have a quick question, looking at the pictures the core is attached to the cross itself and not a separate part from the silver cross halves.

Therefore i would like to know, since I never had a first class myself, but want to buy one:

Do they exist from multiple part like a 2nd class one?
