Gordon Craig
A newspaper notice of the passing of Dr. Dunkhase. From the information in this newspaper clipping we can deduce that the award was probably made in 1956.

So this was awarded as sort of a long service medal(professional service to the DRK)?
Gordon Craig
Paul,That seems to be the case here. It has been a long standing custom in Germany to present awards, on their birthday, to distinguished people for long and faithful service. The Dr. seems to have been well know and is refered to in the newspaper as "Papa Otto".Regards,Gordon
