Mossy Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 this is a bar i saw and bought the other day to go with my ckech medal.what bothers me, is althought three medals are represented, the whole thing is only one, wide, ribbon. anyone able to help?sam.
David Gregory Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Sam,The bar seems fine to me. Many more or less "standard" combinations of two or three ribbons were produced in one piece to save time mounting them.Besides this WW2 combination, you will typically also find them for the 1914 iron cross together with the ribbons of many of the common awards from the other Imperial German states./David
Mossy Posted September 8, 2005 Author Posted September 8, 2005 thanks david! i was thing something along those lines, but as i say, i dont know as much about ribbon bars as i should. cheers!sam.
Guest Rick Research Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 No one does but me. [attachmentid=10088]And I've turned out OK, all things considered.
Bob Hunter Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 That is only an opinion not a fact, right Rick?

A lot of common issue ribbon combinations were printed onto one larger ribbon. This saved time with ribbon bar assembly. I, for one, find bars like this highly desireable. What is the longest bar that was made from a single ribbon? Do you think that there could be any four or even five place bars printed on one large ribbon?Paul Reck
Guest Rick Research Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 THAT's an interesting survey question and will be nice to see! I think THREE is the maximum non-Royal "one piece" style I've ever seen. Anybody seen a four?

Anybody seen a four? All I have is a two place "one piece" ribbon as intregated into this three ribbon bar! The Hindenburg Cross is actually a separate ribbon!!! The two Austrian medals are printed on one ribbon.Best regardsPaul Edited October 1, 2005 by Paul Reck
Christophe Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Here is an example of a classical 2 place ribbon (Iron Cross + East Campaign) as proposed by Detlev Niemann.Ch.
