This just for info.Now to the topic.I got a number of photographs yesterday.A bearded old fellow is on them, Hauptmann in a Gebirgsj?ger regiment in WW 2.He has quite a remarkable ribbon bar ( something for Rick ) and another award, a cross unknown to me.He seems to be austrian.Show You some photos first.The photos are not the very best quality, but interesting.1.) 2.)3.)............. He was NOT a doctor, since he's wearing Gebirgsj?ger uniform with regimental numbers on his shoulder boards.The ribbon bar is1) An Austrian WW1 bravery award2) 1917 Karl Troop Cross3) 1918 Karl Medal for 1 Wound4) Hindenburg Cross X5) Austrian Republic WW1 Commemorative medal X6) Tyrol WW1 Commemorative Medal7) Prussiaan Red Cross Medal 3rd Class (WW1)8) Hungarian WWI Commemorative Medal X9) Bulgarian WWI Commemorative Medal XThe pinback cross is indeed the Austro-Hungarian Red Cross Decoration-Officer grade with War Decoration (wreath). This was given to officers as low as Captain (I once had a group to a medical professor who was a Hptm dL). It was given out for very strange and not always Red Cross related services...bt with the PRUSSIAN medal also in his group, I think he must have been a medical officer in the FIRST war and a COMBATANT officer in the SECOND! In the photo behind the twigs, the other officers and NCOs are Hungarians.I think it says "Dr Linowa Innsbruck" on the odd costume photos. I cannot be sure, but that sort of "sombrero" hat I believe indicates he may have been a Catholic priest.He is certainly not uniformed as a chaplain! In this group of photos, about 60 photos, there are a lot of nurses to be seen.Maybe he was the administrative leader of a war-hospital.
