webr55 Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 For a change: This is a GENUINE one... almost forgotten how they look like:
Valgor Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 why not team up. create a number of ebay accounts, win the auctions, notpay and leave bad reviews.I know, i'm a bit of a troublemaker...?so they say...
Ulsterman Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Austrian bar:This one is interesting (post 61: KVKx/LS/LS/Anschluss/R CaC). It shows regulations/precedence sophistication not often found in make-a-quick-euro ripoff specialists. Are we certain it's a bad one?
webr55 Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 This one is interesting. It shows regulations/precedence sophistication not often found in make-a-quick-euro ripoff specialists. Are we certain it's a bad one? This guy IS clever - using all sorts of old parts. But 1) the Austrian DA is insanely rare on medal bars like this and 2) - I repeat myself - "in this company I really wouldn't touch with a flagpole"...
Ulsterman Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 ah-understood-almost certain guilt by association.....It is VERY troubling that he has this level of knowledge....had I seen that at my local medal show i'd have snapped it right up thought myself lucky. sigh-
webr55 Posted July 20, 2009 Author Posted July 20, 2009 This one is currently on ebay, a completely different case, different seller. I think it might have been ok once --- but to my mind, the ?M3K might have been added later. Supposed to be an officer candidate in 1917/18, but still got the officer decoration. Possible, but look at the relatively new ribbon... I'm not sure about this one.
webr55 Posted July 20, 2009 Author Posted July 20, 2009 Backside. A Hungarian, yes, with Hungarian "Anschluss" medals from 1940/41.
webr55 Posted July 20, 2009 Author Posted July 20, 2009 (edited) To me, it looks like the nice-looking ÖM3K has been squeezed in later. An "enhanced" bar. Edited November 11, 2017 by webr55
saschaw Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Offered by whom? I now have a quite long list (in mind) with "black sheep". Could you please PM me, to prevent problems... ;o(
hunyadi Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 This seller is quite prominent on Ebay and well, in Hungary as well. None of his bars are what I would call "original". The parts are original, but the set up is probably not. Recently one sold on Ebay with "new" ribbons, old medals and a communist era mounting bar....
webr55 Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) He's back! Edited November 11, 2017 by webr55
Ulsterman Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 You know-he's getting better. Kelly's uses him for repro bars (which he sells as repros, but when he stops using the edge stitching and the new ribbons-and makes 5 medal bars that are reasonable.....he'll be creating real problems.
