Roeland Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Hello gents,I'm asking this on behalf of a friend, he saw this EK1 on the internet, he would like to know more about it as he is interested in buying it,any information is welcome, thanks in advance.kind regards,Roeland
Glenn R Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Made by the company AWS; A Werner and Sohn (I think). Usually referred to as pillow back crosses due to the configuration of the back plate. Nice collectable crosses, usually with a thin straight pin, sometimes a fluted pin. Nice to see a screw back example. This one doesn't seem to have a maker mark on it but nothing to worry about in that. Nice cross.
joe campbell Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 as above, and while these are well known, they are fairly difficult to find.private purchase, and to my mind, something of the Cadillac (Mercedes Benz????)of the private purchase crosses.job well done!joe
Steve campbell Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 (edited) Nice one! And with the washer. Mine is missing the washer, and is also unmarked. Edited November 16, 2007 by Steve campbell
Steve campbell Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 And the rear. It's too bad about the washer.
Motorhead Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Typical "AWS"reverse-but the core is a little bit different.my thought-same maker, but the ones shown here have got a"sheetmetal "core.have a closer look at the first ones reverse-it has got a pin......not often seen at imperial EKs!Micha
Roeland Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 (edited) thanks for the information gents, micha, what do you mean with the somewhat different core? I don't understand the difference. Edited November 17, 2007 by Roeland
Motorhead Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 No problem-have a look!The right one is a pinback,but both have the same special reverse.Micha
Roeland Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 aha, ok, I understand it now, thank you.
