EK 1914 unknown Iron cross 1st class

Hello gents,

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend, he saw this EK1 on the internet, he would like to know more about it as he is interested in buying it,any information is welcome,

Made by the company AWS; A Werner and Sohn (I think). Usually referred to as pillow back crosses due to the configuration of the back plate. Nice collectable crosses, usually with a thin straight pin, sometimes a fluted pin. Nice to see a screw back example. This one doesn't seem to have a maker mark on it but nothing to worry about in that. Nice cross.

they are fairly difficult to find.

private purchase, and to my mind,

something of the Cadillac (Mercedes Benz????)

of the private purchase crosses.

Typical "AWS"reverse-but the core is a little bit different.my thought-same maker,but the ones shown here have got a"sheetmetal "core.have a closer look at the first ones reverse-it has got a pin......not often seen at imperial EKs!

No problem-have a look!The right one is a pinback,but both have the same special reverse.
