    Morning all!

Chris B shared with us his ultimate combat helmet that has history to a famous regiment. Today I'll share this one with you.

As you can see it's a nice Luft M42 SD with the shell marked NS64. Liner is standard with pin-skin leather and original chin-strap. Unfortunately no name can be found anywhere on this helmet. So where does the 'history' part come in???

    Can anyone guess??

Unit stamp on the chin strap(Does that count as a name)? If not, perhaps you got it from the original vet or his family?

Unit marked inside the liner, or on the chinstrap, that would be indeed unusual for a later war helmet,

very nice M42 by the way, it would be hard to upgrade that one!

    Thanks for the comments guys!

    Well, here's the answer:

It came directly from the family of the vet who 'captured' it. Is was sold by his niece who also provided the capture papers.

Needless to say, it's one of those pieces everyone dreams of obtaining and I was extremely pleased to get it. :jumping:

When I got it another collector looked up the soldiers details, which are available online (but I'm sorry to say I forget where). If I recall correctly the soldier was in the transport corp but nothing more than that.

You did very well with that one!! The decal is one of the best I have seen!

    Thanks for the compliment Paul!
