Komtur Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 This is a fine example of a pure Prussian order bar. In my opinion it must be a Beamter, after serving in the 1866 war changing from military to civil service. Sometimes I will do my homework and search the "Handbuch f?r das Deutsche Reich 1918" for him.Greetings, Komtur.
joe campbell Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 (edited) i'll defer to those with more knowledge than i,but this sure looks like an absolute diamond!!wonderful condition, well constructed.beautiful!joel Edited January 20, 2008 by joe campbell
Guest Rick Research Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 It does indeed. But you will also have to look through the PRUSSIAN 1918 as well as the Reichs 1918. Lots and lots and LOTS of work, but the effort will be worth it to put a name back on the wearer of this bar. Hopefully he will then be in the Orders Almanac, with more personal details, and can be back-tracked in other HuS Handb?cher.I just hope he didn't retire in 1917!
webr55 Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 What a fine bar! Especially the lack of an 1870/71 might ID him.
Ulsterman Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Is the red cross medal in third place because its a war time award?
Guest Rick Research Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Yup-- 1915+ teardrop zinky. Somehow he completely missed 1870 (wounded in 1866, I betcha), but waaaaaaay overcompensated 1914 on. He had to have been past 70.BTW-- to David S, here's a "matching" MINI Old Style hook back medals and ribbon bar that could have belonged to him pre-1913.Note size compared to a normal sized M1915 ribbon bar below it.
Stogieman Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 .... AND........ note that non-combattant Anhalt FK2 in 2. place on the comparison bar!

I know that, today I searched 70 pages of the Reichs 1918 . Lots of similar combinations but none fits exatly. The clue will be (PrEK2w)(PrVKfKrh)(PrRKM3)(PrRA4)(PrKOr4)(PrLD2), that could be unique. Unfortunately the "50" isn?t mentioned there. When I did not find him there, I have to go to the Prussian Hof und Staat 1918. Then I need help (Daniel? PaulC, ) because I haven?t this one.Best regards, Komtur.
Guest Rick Research Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 (edited) It is too bad there was no maker tag on the back as a "local" clue. Don't forget that he might NOT have gotten ANY 1 or 2 of the first 3 until after 1918! I've checked pages 1 to 100 in the 1918 Prussian Court & State = no match yet.
