Best 20 dollars I ever spent- Bulgarian Medal bar.

    Recommended Posts

This beauty arrived today. Can anyone help with the ID? I am guessing that they are a Jubilee medals(based upon the dealers description). Still, for the price, one cant go wrong.

I like the toning affect on the medals.

I've never seen Bulgarian medals mounted in a group before. I'm not sure what the requirements were to be awarded these, but the wearer had a busy 6 years--

    1) Centennial of liberation from Turkey, 1978

    2) Centennial of Georgy Dmitrov, 1982

    3) 1,300 years of Bulgaria, 1981

    4) 40th Anniversary of Communist Bulgaria, 1984

Any idea whether this would be a typical military/civil service combination?

I spent $20 better once... but I'd rather not talk about it. :catjava:

I have no idea on whether or not this is a Civil or Military set. Maybe there are some members here that are better versed in Bulgarian medals?

I got a lot for 20 dollars in Columbia... My wife did not like that story too much either(not married at that time!)! lol.

Not at all-- I simply don't know who was eligible for these jubilees.

Also, if the military or civil ones were different in anyway... I really like that they seem to legitimately belong together, by the wear on the ribbons.

Thanks Ed!! I really like the Soviet Medal style and mount!

    Theodor? Theodor?

I suspect what you have is a second row bar here. The medals are all "eminent citizens" awards and were widely awarded, many to party apparatchiks and bureaucrats. However, Theodor will be able to tell us more.
