Oberst General
this is a very good thread.im wondering if these could become something that others will want years from now?I have 3-4 of them myself, but I stopped because the eaby marked got flooded back in 90-92 era.Have the prices gone up any?Is there a collector / dealer who isn't assembling them ? Paul R
Hi!It seems as if the prices have risen slightly. I dont think that the demand for these items has risen too much over the past couple of decades. Although, it did take German WW2 items three decades to become something collectable! Thank you for your compliments!Best regardsPaul Edited September 24, 2005 by Paul Reck
Oberst General
You have a good point there.Space is always an issue also.I prefer Officers over em items anyway. One thing im always concerned about is the fabrication of items. last week i noticed 2-3 East german general ranks on ebay. I wondered if the were assebled or real? Ed_Haynes
I am told a lot of these DDR uniforms are being "assembled", same for ribbon bars, in other words "FAKED".
Oberst General
EdThats what i thought also, but I wasn't sure.I just checked ebay, generals are buy me now at 750.00 , isn't that crazy.Am im wrong on this ? Roy Queen
Very nice DDR collection, Paul! I've a few tunics in my collection, but nothing like yours! Actually, my wife was pretty ticked off at me for having the tunics, so now, I focus my DDR collecting to badges and medals. In fact, she encouraged this change in collecting by buying me a small display cabinet, and not take up too much space in the closet!

In fact, she encouraged this change in collecting by buying me a small display cabinet, and not take up too much space in the closet! Faked uniforms...It makes one think... How many of the tunics in our WW2 collection are made in the same manner... Blank tunics that people(maybe germans themselves) added original insignia post war to sell to the sovenier hungry occupation troops. I see that happening a lot as I am sure that jobs were not the most abundant for a while. In most cases, we would never knowOberst Gen,I have the same issue with my wife now. I have so many East German tunics that she actually gets mad when I receive a TR item... not because of "what it is" but because of the quantity of items I have in the room!!! I only have seven TR uniforms now. To my wife, she view them one and the same!!!
usmcraidergirl
Great collection, Paul! These are definitely going to be the collectables of the future! I agree with what was previously said, as it is true the sources of these are drying up.
