Gerd Becker Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 How many here are collecting these items?Like DDR are they being assembled today? What is the chance of finding real WW2 era officer tunics?Hello,if you think about to start collecting soviet orders and medals, you should definately buy at first the book "The Comprehensive Guide to Soviet Orders and Medals" from Paul McDaniel/Paul Schmitt. You should learn as much as possible, before you buy something. Everything, including the most common medals are faked in soviet collecting and some of the fakes are scary good. Maybe you start with one of the more common orders like Order of the Red Banner of Labor, for example. The chance of finding a real WW2 era officer tunic depends on the branch, you want. Take a look on the Website of CollectRussia, maybe he has something interesting for you:http://collectrussia.com/I hope, i could help a little.best wishes,Gerd
Paul R Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 (edited) When I started collecting Soviet items in 1992, Igor M. at Collectrussia.com has been my source. Being a former Soviet Officer, he knows what he is selling. I have known him for 13 years and he is a great guy to do business with. He has always offered great customer service and a very friendly attitude. I learned a lot from him!As stated above, the Comprehensive Guide on Soviet Orders and Medals is a must have if you are wanting to collect them. I think that he is even offering uniforms as well. Check his website out. Here are his uniformshttp://collectrussia.com/showcat.htm?cat=NCOOFFUNIhttp://collectrussia.com/showcat.htm?cat=GENSTAFUNIBest regardsPaul Reck Edited September 27, 2005 by Paul Reck
