Hejoined the Luftwaffe on 2 November 1939. He started his career withTraining Regiment 72 at Detmold leaving in January 1940 to go to SchoolTraining Regiment 72 in Brunn. After training he left this Regiment in July1940 to transfer to Air War School 5 in Bresla-Schongarten. On 11 March 1941Venth moved again, this time to Fighter Flight School 2 in Zerbst but a weeklater he transferred to Fighter Flight School 2. After completing hisfighter pilot training in July 1941 he was posted to the replacement groupof Jagdgeschwader 51. Venth served here until November 1941. Venth joinedthe 9 Staffel of the JG 51 on 17 November 1941 at their Jermolino airfieldin Russia. He stayed with 9 Staffel until 11 February 1944 claiming elevenvictories, four of them the Il-2 Sturmovik. Venth then transferred to 10Staffel of IV./JG 51 in February 1944. Venth was promoted to Oberleutnant on1 March 1944 and became Staffelkapit?n of 10./JG 51 on 9 April 1944. Venthscored a further six aerial victories whilst with 10./JG 51. On 16 July 1944he was missing in action near Zlowczow in Poland. Heinz Venth was credited with 17 victories. All his success was achievedover the Eastern front and included at least six Il-2 Sturmoviks.
