reinoudmilitary Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Also for this one I hope someone can help me.As I said I collect Kriegsmarine I have a small collection with some equipment (sextant, barometer, anemometer, stopwatch, and some more) I am more and more interested in Uboat items and these items look great and original to me but are they? You never know these days..
Michel Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Not a good one IMO, but post better pictures...
Gordon Williamson Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 I agree with Michel, it doesn't look promising. The lettering on the reverse is too neat and precise. Originals are irregular and not that well formed. A case of the fakes being too good.It also looks suspiciously like bronzed tombak rather than the zink that originals were made from.
reinoudmilitary Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 Thank you Michel and Gordon,I read this and another militariaform frequently but these where my first posts. I saw a lot of pictures both your collections and most of them are saved in my documents:)I am glad with your opinions but the "source" is thrustworthy and has them in his collection for about 30 years, they came with estate sales with original uboat items..I will ask some better pictures and post them overhere for a second opinion.I always stayed off the german awards for the enormeous quantity (and quality) of fakes but I wil continue to do some research and one day I will have an original uboatbadge or clasp!
Al P Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 I agree with the above. A good copy for the most part but the details let it down. Note how on the reverse the cutout is not centered.Al
Stogieman Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Take a look at the swastika..... that should help clue you in to the badge being wrong........
