The red plastic would probably date the case to the 80s. It is of a distinctly different design to the red plastic cases we are used to seeing for Hungarian medals for this preiod. It is a one piece cover with the integral hinge made as part of the case. The insert is a plush sort of material glued to a piece of cardboard and the cardboard is glues to a piece of foam. The insert can be lifted up by a small, red, thread loop which you can see in the pictures. The award has a very dark red enamelled surface and the back is plain. The vendor said it was for a member of the Hungarian Diplomatic Service but unfortuantely there was no award document with it.Regards,GordonThe top of the case.
