Gordon Craig Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Gents,Here is a new one. Neither Charles or I have ever seen a KIV?L? DOLGOZ? or a case like this before. The red plastic would probably date the case to the 80s. It is of a distinctly different design to the red plastic cases we are used to seeing for Hungarian medals for this preiod. It is a one piece cover with the integral hinge made as part of the case. The insert is a plush sort of material glued to a piece of cardboard and the cardboard is glues to a piece of foam. The insert can be lifted up by a small, red, thread loop which you can see in the pictures. The award has a very dark red enamelled surface and the back is plain. The vendor said it was for a member of the Hungarian Diplomatic Service but unfortuantely there was no award document with it.Regards,GordonThe top of the case.
hunyadi Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Its an interesting example - the enamel is deep and very "fine" it was made to impress. The characteristics and the case suggest that it was made in the 1980's, but the quality is no where near to the standard 1980's issue.
