Eric Stahlhut
that's a very interesting proof mark! are you sure it isn't a V with a line under it? may i see a closer pic of the mark from a different angle?thanks in advance! if i recall correctly we did an interesting thread on another forum about 5 or 6 years ago pertaining to these marks on the underside of EK1 pins. one can encounter symbols, numbers, and letters. i don't know if a common concensus was ever reached concerning the significance of these markings. Richard Gordon
Guys, both look like 'V' to me but regardless, both are very nice and certainly not common!Rich
Bill Garvy
I think it is a "V" as well, not an "A" after looking at it with a 30X magnifier. . . Edited July 5, 2008 by Bill Garvy

Please show you my part of collections "WW1 Ek".Eiserneskreuz of the lower right of the photograph is written as "A" behind a pin. Similarly I see 800 carved seals. I love such a sculpture. It is a German special sculpture.
Steve campbell
Nice. The 800 V is hard to find, and not one I have come across yet for my own collection.
