Richard Gordon Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Just like to present this Meybauer example that came my way. The enamel is quite dark compared to the others I have and the arms much more simple in design.Rich
Richard Gordon Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 (edited) Not a silver model but clearly marked with the Meybauer crest and sporting the classic Meybauer style pin. Edited October 8, 2008 by Richard Gordon
Richard Gordon Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 (edited) As shown here with my BB&Co (top right) and '800' example, the Meybauer is much darker!Rich Edited October 8, 2008 by Richard Gordon
Richard Gordon Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 Thanks Rick!So far, at 21 views and looks like only me and Rick are enjoying this one. Rich
Scott Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 (edited) I just found this thread - and I'm a big fan of the Turkish Star . I really like the textured background detail under the red enamel and 'clean' silver edging of your latest star. Beautiful. Edited October 9, 2008 by Scott
Richard Gordon Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 Scott,I'm pleased it caught your eye. I think the simplicity of the edge gives it a cleaner look. Rich
Mike K Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Hi Rich,A very nice example indeed! Are you sure it's not echt silber though? I ask because it certainly has the look to it (unless you can see some tombak bleeding through somewhere?) and Meybauer almost certainly did not mark all of their silver made awards with silver content marks.RegardsMike
Richard Gordon Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 Hi MikeThere is some exposed tombac on the reverse on the very tips of the arms. Very little but enough to see the base metal.Rich
Eric Stahlhut Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 i really DO like how the light plays off of the variegated enamel.it's a cherry instead of a strawberry, but it sure is sweet! nice star!
Les Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Meybauer made ones aren't common. With three in your collection, I can imagine you'll want a Godet example, and even rarer ones? It's hard to stop with one or two nice ones, and three could be tempting to build into a larger mini-collection all of it's own.... Nice ones.Les
Richard Gordon Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 Lovely example. Enjoy it.Best wishesDemirThanks!Meybauer made ones aren't common. My first was the BB&Co, then the '800' Austrian example. I've seen Godet's, AWS and JH Werner examples up for sale which I would love to add but they are oh, so expensive! I'm always on the look-out for nice pin-backs. Another little obsession. Rich
