bigjarofwasps
Hi Guys, I thought it might be interesting/fun, to compile a list of famous battles, maybe even make a top 10 or something. So to that end, heres a few that I`ve racked my brains for, can anyone else come up with some more?In no particular order yet....Rorke`s Drift - The South Wales Borderers 1879Arnhem Bridge - The Parachute Regiment 1944Baraclava - The Light Dragoons 1854Omdurman - 17/21st Lancers 1899retreat to Gandamak - 44th Foot (Essex Regiment) 1842Imjin - The Glostershire Regiment 1952
Schwartzvogel2008
If we`re going by VC worn, then the 6 VC`s before breakfast - Lancashire Fusiliers, Gallipoli 1915, should be in there, somewhere. With being top heavy for the old Paras, Londonderry 1972, is pretty famous.... More gloriously Goosegreen, Longdon, Wirless Ridge, Tumbledown for the Scots Guards maybe, all 1982? MajorBloodnok
Hi Bobkohima,as your nickname suggests you simply had to remind all of us of the 4th Royal West Kents and their heroic defence of Kohima. A certain tennis court played a role I believe.Have a nice weekend,MikeHi there, this is my first post but what about the Siege of Kohima with the 4thBn Royal West Kents and the battle for Kohima by the 2nd Division
