Claudius Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I think this ribbon bar belongs here. Must have been a proud Austrian and he made sure he applied for every commemorative medal from each of the former central power's countries (except Turkey of course.)
Guest Rick Research Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Darned good war record-- must have had a Barvery Medal, both Signum Laudises with Xs, and the Military Merit Cross (typical Austrian style "X" rather than the round wreath Germans favored) and of course the Prussian Iron Cross.Leutnant or Oberleutnant.
Elmar Lang Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Yes, Austrian-style swords, but on a post-1938 (or post-Anschlu?) German-style ribbon bar, belonged to an officer serving in the Austrian 1st Republic, then in the Wehrmacht.Enzo
saschaw Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 A nice one as said, but what I'm missing is long service awards. Recalled to the Wehrmacht when those were not handed out anymore?
Guest Rick Research Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 No long service. Hapbsurg forces after 1908, so nothing. Recalled after the Second War started (not an (E) retread) so... nothing.Wehrmacht long service awards awards were for REGULARS.Chances are this guy was an Oberleutnant dR zV or a Hauptmann zV.
Ulsterman Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 LS for Regulars only? I think I have seen them on dR officer medicos.Hmmmm... off to snout round the Wehrpasses.
