seb16trs Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 here's a grouping for the all 3 classes of the very known and common order of "merit cross"
Guest Rick Research Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Aha! 5-6-5 years apart-- so perhaps AUTOMATIC (long service?) awards? I've never seen a SET before to guess at this from the award dates.
Eric Schena Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I have a pair to the same individual with award dates as follows:Silver Cross of Merit: 22 July 1956Gold Cross of Merit: 4 May 1966Maybe there was a specified time frame for long service awards depending on what the service actually was. If folks would like to see this pair, let me know and I'll get some scans posted.

I'm waiting for a second group including two classes, bronze and silver, with 5 years between each awarding too...
Guest Rick Research Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Perhaps your earlier ones were harder earned, Eric? By the 1980s, lowered standards?
leigh kitchen Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I have a couple of Crosses of merit with award booklets to a policewoman, given to me by a male police officer friend from Warsaw. The different grades could be awarded a number of times each, & it was'nt necessary for them to be awarded in "order" Bronze, Silver, Gold, so he told me.
Guest Rick Research Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 :Cat-Scratch: Noooooooooooooooooooooooo. Must-have-order-in-chaos..... :speechless1:
