So I finally received the piece I've been waiting for since January....long story.

Bob's post about the archive etc. got me thinking.

Which pieces would I like to get researched first, assuming it was/is/will be possible.

Partizan badges, soyombo, Sukhbaatars all came to mind but in the end it was these four that I thought might be the most interesting.

I base this purely, and probably erroneously, on the low serial numbers.

I think these are all the lowest numbered examples of their kind.

You guys can probably add a few amazing things to this little list.

Cheers from a very happy me!!! :jumping:

    1. Order of Industrialization Valour #129

    2. Red Combat Banner #4

    3. Red Combat Banner 2nd award #12

    4. Honourary Chekist #5

Interesting, checking the anal-retentive serial number list, all of these EXCEPT the #4 have been previously reported.

    Any documents?

Unfortunately no, but that just makes the finding out that much more exciting!

These are one group or are seperate singles?

That would be one hell of a group, but yes, they are singles.

Have to think hard about what I'd love to have researched the most. Probably:

    1) old style red banner that I have

    2) industrialization valor which - i have strong suspicions - was awarded to a person who's SB I also have

    3) and then, well... do I have to choose? :banger:

This is of course a "problem" we do not yet have...

Yes, it is (on a very limited and "fragile" basis) possible to do research... BUT, it appears that we may have all underestimated the importance of award documents vs. the actual awards due to serial numbers not easily being available in the places where research is found.

Treading gently in this area - i don't want anything to backfire... LOT's more to come (slowly but surely)

    Some more pics on Sodnomdarjaa.

Also, on research, I am awaiting delivery of a series of books (3 books) with biographies of all of the (400 or so?) Mongolian partisans. Apparently book series similar to the Soviet books on heros of the soviet union and the other book on the caveliers of the order of glory.

    Slowly but surely
