Looks like it's on a von Epp raute...............

I have seen it! Did you notice? I looks similar like this skull, with gaps between the bones...

Here is my unusual skull item of the week.

A Danziger Leibhusaren badge with oak leave and a number for 25 years (very rare!).

But with an added golden lettering for 15 years?

I have never seen it before! biggrin.gif

Since we seem to be on the topic, here is a very rare document that was recently shown on the German SDA website/forum.

Here's Dietrich's 1st Pattern tank badge (left), with the design taken from the illustration at the top of the award document.

Totally different from the normal 2nd pattern badge (right).

    One mystery solved...

I posted a photo of this guy somewhere in this massive thread. Turns out he was a 1920s circus performer named Gabdin Brons, who had a "Game of Death" and performed "death jumps" (high dives). That's why he wore Totenkopfen on his flying helmet and chest:

The guy who sold me the photo said it depicted some kind military man. Oh well... Let the buyer beware.

Sometimes it takes a little bit of time.

But it shows us, that there is always a chance to find a final answer! beer.gif

Probably an easy mistake for the seller to make.........the skulls look like authentic war surplus badges.

    Very interesting.

No doubt Brons was also a member of Sicher wie Jold.

    Something I've never seen before...

This flamethrower pioneer's Totenkopf is at a cockeyed angle on the cloth oval on his sleeve! The cloth oval is in the proper vertical orientation, but the Totenkopf is skewed. Maybe it was in the process of falling off when the photo was taken?

    Merry Christmas to all members!

PS: Next year I hope we will find the final answer about the thread starter black skull! wink.gif

Interesting postcard that illustrates the Minenwerfer-Totenkopf connection that keeps popping up. This was put out by Minenwerfer-Ersatz-Bataillon Nr. 8; it's apparently an "official" card, meaning it was sold in the battalion commissary or in the barracks.
