HeikoGrusdat
.............and with him some very nice orders!!!two weeks ago I got a very nice photo on ebay - and I was very happy to get THIS special picture because I knew the man on the photo.... it is cutted at the bottom but this was nothing new too..... on the reverse is nothing written but you can see some very nice details like his artillery pickelhaube and his saber. His medal bar is quit nice with two different red eagles and a japanese guy - the siamese twin is on the neck!!!It is Oberst Willy Buchholz , commander of 1.Th?ringisches Feldartillerie-Regiment N?
HeikoGrusdat
.........and that`s why I wanted to have it - Mr.Buchholz has been part of my collection before !!! Cut as the other photo , made at the same day but more detailed and a so called "breast piece" - you can see the orders even better.... and last but not least.............. on this photo someone has been very kind and wrote on the reverse "Onkel Willy Buchholz" Enjoy!!!
VtwinVince
Wow, what are the odds of that? I'm surprised that he's wearing two PRAO's, couldn't they combine the schleife with the crown into one?
TacHel
Forgive my ignorance but... Although I've seen the Order of the Red Eagle with a bow before, I have no idea what it means. Could you please enlighten me?
Komtur
Forgive my ignorance but... Although I've seen the Order of the Red Eagle with a bow before, I have no idea what it means. Could you please enlighten me?The 3rd class with bow was awarded to native Prussians (no "foreigners" like Bavarian, Saxon, Austrien ...), who own before a 4th class REO. The same meaning was the oakleaves for the 2nd class.Regards, Komtur.

I'm surprised that he's wearing two PRAO's, couldn't they combine the schleife with the crown into one?The REO with the crown was created in 1892 as a special distinction. 1894 was decided, that REOs with the crown remain with the decorated persons, if they get a higher class without the crown.Regards, Komtur. webr55
This must be Generalmajor Wilhelm Kaspar David Buchholz (1855-1921), seniority 18.4.1913 G, who went zD on 20.5.1914 as Cdr of 37. Feldartillerie-Brigade in Allenstein.
Claudius
Are #3 and #4 both PKOs? I didn't think you could wear both, but if he has two REOs....Then the Centennial and I believe the Japanese Order of the Sacred Treasure.Does anyone know what medal/orders he ended up with after the war? Was it ever mounted? I can only imagine...with a EK2 on one end and that Japanese Sacred Treasure on the other... nice.
