Luka
Red enamel!? ...someone is trying to higher the price on this very common and cheap medal :D
wlodzimierz
I don't think that this is enamel, even not synthetic enamel it is probably transparent red color. The quality is not well, you see different red colors. Let's hope that the quality of fakes remain poor as like in this case. w.
Luka
I don't know for sure...anyway its very crappy ...as a matter of fact I wouldn't even classify this one as a fake...rather a fantasy piece...

Tim B
This is one of the things about ebay that makes collecting harder; here the person has 100% good feedback as a seller with 893 total to his/her name and now you wonder just how many items they sold are total crap!? How is a new collector supposed to defend against this without help through GOOD references and forums such as this?Tim Edited July 21, 2009 by Tim B
wlodzimierz
You are right, There is a book about iron cross issued a couple of months ago in Munich. The book is sold off.A friend put it in that way: app. 7.000 of this award were awarded and there are 50.000 collectors and each of them has a original iron cross. It is huge forgery business. Of course we can not compare iron cross with this medal, but still forgery it is now in some areas and it will be in area of YU awards a huge business.Thats why the good references are now so important. We are still lucky that YU awards were not in scope of forgers but it will change with the time.w. Georg14
Good day, Gentleman. Is there basis for the statements of some dealers/collectors (incl. from ex. Yugoslavia) that the earliest medals For Bravery (Soviet made) were with RED ribbon ? Thanks.
paja
Greetings Georg, I have never heard of that, completely red ribbon or just with red stripes instead of the blue ones?
Georg14
Hi, As they said, completely red ribbon, as below. Maybe it's just a commercial trick ?
paja
Hm, perhaps I also have one of those rare early Soviet variants Edited April 16, 2014 by paja

paja
Joking aside my opinion - definitely not original, when you take a look at photos from that period (1943 onward) ribbons on medals are with stripes, at least I've never seen anything different... Georg14
Too lazy to replace the ribbon , especially it is not a deficit . I also do not see this, probably it is fable, but maybe we have a rarity (joke of course) !
YugoToni
You asked that the red color could be, the old Yugoslavian flag has blue, white, and red on it. The blue represents the sky. The white represents the air. And the red represents Bloody Land. So The red on the medal could possibly signify the Bloody land in which the medal could have been acquired. Don't take my word for it, but the 1912 and 1913 medals that are the same, do not have the red, they are all gold as the attachment below will show. So the only explanation is that your medal is reasonably rare, or that the previous owner thought it would look better if he painted it. And for those wondering, the medal goes by the name "medalja za hrabrost, miloš obilić" Edited May 13, 2014 by YugoToni
Rogi
I think its more something like a Child playing around with red fingernail polish (for the "enameled" Bravery Medal)That is usually what happens when Orders and Medals aren't kept in lock and key :D Edited May 13, 2014 by Rogi

I'm quoting you because you've mentioned different variations of ribbons in another thread, so I wish we could discuss it it a proper thread. paja
Thanks for reminding me Couple of Soviet made type 1 medals, light blue stripes. By the way notice how the suspensions look like, we talked about it earlier in another thread.
paja
Here's an example of Soviet medal on Yugoslav suspension, someone combined parts of different decorations...

paja
One more like above but with suspension made out of different kind of metal and with different box.
paja
The unusual one, I believe someone used ribbon for the ribbon bar, stripes are pale blue like on the Soviet type and the suspension is made out of some yellowish metal.
