lew Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Greetings gentlemen, I have been offered this long ribbon bar consisting of 11 ribbons and many fancy devices are attached. Can anybody tell me if it has any chance to be orignal? please feel free to share your opinion. Thanks.
Noor Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 (edited) My personal feeling is very bad: - odd combination - devices, what officially wasn't on use - EK2 spange and Long service "Eagles".... quality is not the best - chatch looks like it's not stamped out Mainly.... it's way too much over decorated "bling-bling" looking bar in my opinion. If I remember correctly, something very similar showed up on sale in the Canada online shop around an 1,5 year ago. Like to see now, what's experts think about that. Edited August 3, 2009 by Noor
saschaw Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Text book Ohio fake. Forum search might bring up some more information on Ohio ribbon bar fakes.
Deruelle Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Hi, I'm not convinced at all about this ribbon bar. I'm still impressed about all miniatures people wants to put on ribbon bar to be sold for higher price. Rick has published, only in this forum, a complete article about ribbon bars. This bible for us, collector, should be read each time before buying such ribbon bar. But the most important is experience. I think with this one you won't buy another ribbon bar like that. Just my two cents Christophe
Guest Rick Research Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Classic 1990s Ohio-work. He had a boxful of original Austrian WW1 ribbon bar devices like these that were never used (leftover stock) on their single 40mm width ribbons then. No German wore devices like that. The hand snipped catch on back in mockery of a stamped one is another example of his early work.
FrontlineAntiques Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Out of interest Lew, how much were they asking for it? Dan
lew Posted August 6, 2009 Author Posted August 6, 2009 Out of interest Lew, how much were they asking for it? Dan Hi Dan, I don't know if it is appropriate to answer about the price here. I mean the guy who sold it to me is still a good person, I only wanted to know what I have got, and after all the bar is on its way back and money will be refund, good lesson is learnt.

I would be interested in that bar, despite it being a fake. The Wiederholungspange is very fat around the date. Not as ornate as the WWI awards. The eagles are crude and bath resemble the 4 years army award. Should be 12 and 4. If the seller was interested in passing it on at a better price than what he sold it to you. Please can you forward me more information to goodyeargallery@hotmail.com Best Regards Alan
