elephant12 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Hello ,i've been told that Soviet uniforms were worn in the late 1930's with blue/red collar patches on the tunic , but what about collar patches on the greatcoats? Rank insignia on greatcoats? N.c.o insignia late 1930s? Ranjit.
Ed_Haynes Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Yes, they were essentially Soviet uniforms, but with uniquely Mongolian insigniae. Battushig's book gives the best information available to date. Please contact me by e-mail for more details.
elephant12 Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 Hello Ed ,just wondering what the NCO insignia was for the late 1930s-early WW2 and if greatcoat collar patches were like collar patches-blue and red or Soviet style with the band/insignia.I've seen a photocopy of the French "Carnet de la sabretache" publication which had b/w illustrations of officers rank insignia but not NCO's for Mongolian early WW2 insignia. Regards Ranjit.
elephant12 Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 Hi Ed,tried sending an email yesterday ,but it couldn't get sent to you as i'm a restricted member. Ranjit.
Bob Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Ranjit and others - just been offered a 1930's Mongolian KGB generals uniform. If interested I can post some pics (or facilitate a sale, as I am not focused on uniforms).
Bob Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Item not in my possession, but posting it for general interests sake
Bob Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 (edited) if holes in a uniform could speak! Edited November 20, 2009 by Bob
Bob Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 bellt buckle belonging to major general erendoo (shown in battushig book) not in my collection, but interesting to share
Phillip Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Amazing stuff. Like Mongolian awards, their uniforms are both colorful and very detailed. P.
Gordon Craig Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Bob, Thanks for posting pictures of this interesting uniform. I tried to locate the auction when you first posted the number but it came up as a photograph of a Mongolian soldier. I assume the auction was finished because of what I got. Has the auction finished? Did the tunic sell and if so for how much? Regards, Gordon
Bob Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Sorry - my last post was indeed to an ebay auction for a photograph, not a tunic.
