Deruelle Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Hi everybody, to day I've received this nice medal bar. Not a spectacular medal bar but it's nice. Have a look Christophe
Deruelle Posted September 8, 2009 Author Posted September 8, 2009 With this medal bar I've received this box too
Deruelle Posted September 8, 2009 Author Posted September 8, 2009 The ribbon bar with nice Godet style wreath
sambolini Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Hi, Nice bar, Godet is the best and the Saxe-Meiningen Ehrenkreuz für Verdienste im Kriege is one of the best looking imperial state decorations for bravery. I think there is still a question as to this decoration being awarded to officers only . I always thought so, but I think others here have proven they were given to NCO's as well. Kind regards, Sam K.
Deruelle Posted September 8, 2009 Author Posted September 8, 2009 Officer dog tag. Leutnant d. R Erich Tenner received SMK on 25 Mai 1915.
Deruelle Posted September 8, 2009 Author Posted September 8, 2009 If we speak about Cross for Merit in War (OEK 2717), I have just read the paper of Neal O'Connor about this cross in his book. When Duke Bernhard of Saxe Meiningen created this cross on March 7, 1916 " it is to recognize sepcial merit on the part of officers in the war, both in action and behind the lines" p . 187 of Tome 5. And the Medal for Merit in War (OEK Nr. 2718); this cross was created same date as above but"fro non commissioned officers and men". For the moment I have never seen on photo and in text Cross for Merit in War awarded for NCO. I have a doubt if Felwebel Leutnant is consider as officer or NCO. Christophe

Christophe Hi, Thanks for taking the time to look up the information. I agree, of course. I just thought that the issue had come up in a past thread. Kind regards, Sam
Guest Rick Research Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Beautiful group in immaculate condition! I guess he wanted to be REALLY certain his SMK was not going to jiggle around-- swen down in 2 places! I have never seen that HUGE for 25mm ribbons size Godet ÖM3K wreath before. It is very interesting that both backings are in matching red--rather than their usual gray. That funny looking steel dog tag adds his birth date to our SMK roll! Yaaay! There were 178 SMKs to Feldwbelleutnants (Warrant Officers) on the SMK Roll published last year, and 2 to Offizierstellvertreters--who WERE senior NCOs.
Deruelle Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 Hi everybody, Today I've received photo of Erich Tenner. Now I can put a face on the medal bar Christophe
Deruelle Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Hi , Thanks for your comments. It is interresting to note that the two parts were sold by different sellers. And now this group is in my home Christophe
