Riley1965 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) Thanks to my dear friend and mentor I have my first medals of Baden. The Medal Bar consists of: The Iron Cross (1914) No "G" on ring, Baden Silver Service Medal Friedrich II. Awarded from 1908 until 1918. A silver (from 1917, silvered war metal) medal awarded on the ribbon of the Karl-Friedrich Military Service Order for bravery in the field. Awarded on a yellow ribbon during peacetime and Honour Cross. Doc Chev. Michael "Doc" Riley, KCRCC, GC.OBE, CM.SCG Edited January 28, 2010 by Riley1965
VtwinVince Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Nice 'other ranks' bar, and an attractive way of mounting the Baden Verdienstmedaille.
saschaw Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Nice, honest bar! A silver (from 1917, silvered war metal) medal From mid-1916 on, from what I know. They changed material as they changed from Karlsruhe state mint to B.H. Mayer in Pforzheim. This happend in June 1916, however they (B.H. Mayer's) exist as well in silvered bronze and silvered iron. I do now know when they made which, but the bronze ones must be from mid-1916.
M Hunter Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 A simplistic but wonderful medal bar! Congrats! Matt
Brian Wolfe Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 That's a very nice bar, Doc. It would be so easy to start collecting these groups. "Steady on old boy, be strong and resist the Dark Side". keeps playing in my head. Regards Brian
