Gordon Williamson Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Very rare maker, and nice to see one with so much of the gilding still intact !
nesredep Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Hello! Jan Arne S Very nice condition on your new addition.I agree very rare marker. All the best Morten.
Norm F Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Hi Jan Arne, You always find such interesting additions for your collection -- truly a master collector. What's the story behind the peculiar "bug-eye" of this Funcke & Brueninghaus eagle? I notice that this variant eagle head is quite different from the example in the GCA database and from Lorenzo Brown's posted example here. Nevertheless, the badge seems to match in every other way -- two different production dies perhaps? Best regards, ---Norm
Jan Arne S Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 (edited) Thanks Guys ! Hi Norm ! Really dont know why the Eagles head looks like this . Pointed also this for Gordon when I sent images to Him Yesterday . Jan Arne Edited May 4, 2010 by Jan Arne S
Gordon Williamson Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Here's a comparison with my L/56. I doubt if it is a different die. The rarity of the L/56 badge suggests that they didn't make them in large volume. More likely I think, a misformed badge which, rather then being scrapped, had the "dot" punched into the head to make it look more like a eye and make the head more acceptable.
storage133 Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Hello Jan, very nice eagle on your badge! Breast and wings looks plastic. And i like these kind off eye. Best regards Sto
