Michael Giertz Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Hi! Gents This sword is up for a auction. But is it old or what? This is the only pic. Best regards: Michael
Dieter3 Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 (edited) You might want to inquire over at the Gunboards forum, the Japanese section - they've got some serious weapons experts there. Edited October 23, 2011 by Dieter3
Musashi Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Sorry, it's a Chinese junk (modern-made fantasy), USD 50 at Beijing markets
SStegel Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Hi Micheal, i have to agree that it is a chinese copy. I also agree with Gunboards forum being very good on these type of edged weapons. Cheers Ern
Brian Wolfe Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 In the past few decades the Chinese have indeed been making copies of the older Katanas in addition to the WWII Naval and Army swords. The members posting before me have called this one correctly, a copy from China, so I am really only adding my "vote" that it is a copy. Regards Brian
taquito22 Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I agree. Chinese copy for sure. I would NEVER buy a sword from any auction site where the seller is in China. Even if the seller for this particular sword is not in China, I still believe it is a Chinese copy. There are just too many things wrong with it...and that's just from one picture. My suggestion is to stay away from it.
Rogi Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Would you stick a bare code thing onto an old antique sword? Seriously lol
hc8604 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 The sticker is probably identifying the lot number from an auction. I am starting to see many fakes on these live auctions (not like the online auctions like ebay).
