Sergio
Hello Gentlemen! Want to buy this Baden's medal bar with the Merit Cross of the Order of the Zahringer Lion on Military-Karl-Friedrich Medal ribbon. It seems to be the original one for me. But what do you think about the originality of the medal bar and particularly the Merit Cross. Thanks in advance  Edited February 15, 2012 by Sergio

Claudius
I think the medals are original. The mounting almost has me convinced as period.

saschaw
I'd say the same, looks quite good. Interessting combination. If you don't want it, you can gladly drop me a PM. But would you mind to show a picture of the bar's front?
Claudius
I think the medals are original. The mounting almost has me convinced as period. I said ALMOST. There is this "tell". It's not a big thing, but I haven't come across this on sown-down awards. The photo of the obverse has disappeared, but in it you can see that the ribbons overlap from left to right (as expected), but the medals overlap in a strange order, R-L, sown-down with the BKV overlapping the EK2 and the BsV sown down on top. I have seen medals flip around when hanging loose, but not usually when sown down. Can someone tell/show me another example of this happening? Sergio
Don't know why, but the Bar's front has disappeared from the first topic . Once again  Edited February 16, 2012 by Sergio
Wild Card
... but the medals overlap in a strange order, R-L, sown-down with the BKV overlapping the EK2 and the BsV sown down on top. Maybe a loyal son of Baden making a statement? The Bavarians and Saxons, to a lesser degree, did it a lot.
Stogieman
Looks nice to me, I have no issue with the ribbons.

Brunswick
Greetings Hope you don't mind me coming in on this topic - I have the opportunity to purchase a group that also has the Merit Cross of the Order of the Zahringer Lion on Military-Karl-Friedrich Medal ribbon - is this an acceptable combination ? Your advice would be most appreciated - I was initially a little cautious the Cross not having the usual ribbon but have not found any specific reference to this variation. Thanks in anticipation.
