reinoudmilitary Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 (edited) It's finally in my collection, a KM visor.I took some pictures of it, so here it is.Most of my knowledge is from another internetforum, the French militariamagazine and "die kriegsmarine vol1" from Angolia&Schlicht, this is my first one but have a good feeling about it!I am glad with your opinions by the way! reinoudmilitary Posted January 30, 2006 Author Posted January 30, 2006 clos-up from the eagle, some mothing on it
reinoudmilitary Posted January 30, 2006 Author Posted January 30, 2006 Close up from the insignia, same colour as the eagle
reinoudmilitary Posted January 30, 2006 Author Posted January 30, 2006 the inside, with almost intact sweatshield.
reinoudmilitary Posted January 30, 2006 Author Posted January 30, 2006 (edited) Close up of the sweatshield from celluoid material Edited January 30, 2006 by reinoudmilitary
reinoudmilitary Posted January 30, 2006 Author Posted January 30, 2006 Brown leather sweatband with ventilationholes on the inside there is orange coloured sponge material. Also you can see that the blue satin liner is loosely stiched onto the capframe. The capframe is made of white plasticlike material.
reinoudmilitary Posted January 30, 2006 Author Posted January 30, 2006 (edited) another close up from the inside, directed to the centre front.Note the pieces of leather wich is only in the front part of the cap and in the centre there is an extra stiffener, again from a hard material. Also there is still a metal stiffener ring inside the fixed top, which in most cases was removed to crate the floppy look Edited January 30, 2006 by reinoudmilitary
reinoudmilitary Posted January 30, 2006 Author Posted January 30, 2006 The side, please ignore the red piece of rope at the gold anchored button, is still from the pricetag
Michel Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Sorry, but your cap is not 100 % original.Wreath and cocarde are fake, and the visor is an early bund.Regards,Michel
reinoudmilitary Posted February 2, 2006 Author Posted February 2, 2006 Thanks Michel,I hope te get some more opinions about this cap, anyone?I don't know the excact differance between a early bund visor and a kriegsmarine, but I thought the rim of the bund one is from PVC like material. The black lackered rim on this cap is from leather..The black leather parts which see on the pictures from the inside from the cap is part of the visor, i don't know if this is correct but I've seen this on pictures from other KM caps. The cocarde and wreath, that's difficult for me. Maybey Michel means that the red "eye" is a little bit small and the silver part is smaller then the black part of it??I hope someone can help me out here!
Gordon Williamson Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 There should not be a big gap like this between the end of the bullion trim and the body of the cap.
Michel Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 There should not be a big gap like this between the end of the bullion trim and the body of the cap. You're right Gordon, and look at the sweat band sewing...Once again, be carefull with the KM visor cap.
reinoudmilitary Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 Thanks for your comment Gordon and Michael,I decided to contact the seller and I've got my money back on this one.
