srdjanoz Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) Greetings Emanuel, I saw that medal bar, I think it was sold for somewhere about 200$. What do you think about this one? Same seller, no "hooks" for medals and a bit sloppy sewing. Some of the ribbons were identified by the seller, he said that all of them are from Obrenovic era except 1913 war commemorative medal (+Red Cross medal). Anyway If I am not mistaken this bar is consisting of: --White Eagle --Takovo Cross --St. Sava --Aleksandar Obrenovic coronation medal (according to seller) --Silver bravery medal (1876, 1877-78, 1885-86) --1876-78 war commemorative medal (according to seller) [on non-combatants ribbon?] --1885-1886 war commemorative medal --Serbian Red Cross medal (white, peace-time ribbon) [if this ribbon was for a cross, not medal, I think it wouldn't have been on the place before the last] --1913 war commemorative medal Does anyone happen to have a complete order of precedence for Serbian (Obrenovic dynasty era) and then later Yugoslav (Karadjordjevic dynasty era) decorations? I would be very grateful is someone could share it with us. paja Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) Srdjane thank you so much! I was looking for it for quite some time now... Considering how much the order of precedence is important and that it can be very useful to other members of the forum I suggest that we make a new, separate topic about it. I don't want to take the credit for your work so it would be nice if you could find some time to start that topic yourself. I was able to find the order of precedence from 1883, I will post it here soon. Kind regards, Radmilo Edited November 11, 2012 by paja

paja Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Same seller - new bar. Sold for 50$. On the first place is, according to the seller, Golden 1885-86 bravery medal, but it could also be for the Medal for diligent service in war. On the second place is Commemorative medal for the restoration of the Kingdom (4 red and 3 white stripes) and on the last place is Medal for merit towards the Royal House (Obrenovic era type). On the back side are ribbons for Hindenburg Cross if I'm not mistaken (maybe some other decorations had the same ribbon?). If authentic very interesting medal bar for scarce decorations. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-36402600-1358115845.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-35700700-1358115868.jpg http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-42571900-1358115930.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-57429600-1358115957.jpg
paja Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Similar medal bar was shown to us by bovec1313 (topic: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/42307-serbia-what-is-this-war-medal/) Commemorative medal for the restoration of the Kingdom, recently sold on ebay for 3700$! http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-68900700-1358116291.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-83487700-1358116315.jpg This one was sold I think in 2005 in Serbia for 1800 euros. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-00828600-1358116919.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-99278400-1358116933.jpg
paja Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Medal for diligent service in war (1885-86), again ebay, 700$. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-81352300-1358117374.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-75344700-1358117397.jpg
paja Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Golden bravery medal (but 1877-78, not that rare as the 1885-86 medal), Barac & Pervan, December 2012, 350 euros. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-61426100-1358118009.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-32429100-1358118028.jpg
paja Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) By the way, this might be interesting to you in case you haven't seen it before, one more "empty" medal bar. This one was sold on one Serbian auction site for around 150 euros.0001.jpg Now with decorations, it was recently on sale. On 6th place wrong medal. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-76421500-1358118337.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2013/post-7937-0-18397500-1358118372.jpg Edited January 13, 2013 by paja
hipnos Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 That is an example, at the "Liverpool Medals" company, that shows the Albanian retreat medal in the FIRST place, even before a M. Obilich medal.... That´s odd enought!!! Miguel
Emanuel Posted August 15, 2013 Author Posted August 15, 2013 Greetigns Miguel, The medal Bar as it is, it's original construction,no doubt about it, just I think there is an addition when it comes to medals itself. For example ,the 4th and the last one doesn't fit in this medal Bar (4th is the Best shooter medal where it should be the Silver Medal for Zealous Service and the last one is the Commemorative medal of Serbian Turkish War where it should be the WW I Commemorative King Peter's Cross 1914-1918). We have several examples that the Albanian retreat medal of Serbia Kingdom attached in wrong places, what we have here seems is a low rank officer that had big adventures and troubles during Albania Golgotha passing, thus for him, this medal have special weight, thus special treatment at first place on his Bar instead of the Milos Obilic Gold Bravery medal of WW I as you wisely noticed. NOT SO uncommon I should add
paja Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Greetings gentlemen, I agree with Emanuel, looks genuine to me. When you take a look at the back side of the medal bar you can see that the Albanian retreat medal was added later. It could be that it was the last award that person received and then just placed on the already existing medal bar (in my opinion better there, on the first place, than on the last one). Stranger thing about this medal bar is that the Obilić medal is placed after Medal for military merits and Medal for zealous service...
