Laurence Strong
Ok here is the only one I have: it is made out to Unteroffizier Rudolf Pätzold who was with 4. Panzer kompanie of Schwere Ski Batallion 1. This kompanie was (at least until January 1945) equipped with 22 captured T-34. The signature is that of Major Karl Neubert (RK: 4.10.44) commander of the batallion. The photo is a scan of Major Karl Neubert Larry Edited January 12, 2013 by Laurence Strong
hucks216
Here are two examples to the same soldier. He initially received the Wound Badge in Black in late November 1941 for schrapnel injuries to his face a week earlier. He spent the rest of the war recovering and spending time in the Regiment's replacement units until in December 1944, the Wound Badge in Black was upgraded to Silver for the same wound received 3 years earlier. Bernhard H.Holst
Hello readers: this document for the Woundbadge i.Gold is for the later Rittmeister Bartram, recipient of the German Cross i.Gold. His latest wound was the loss of one leg which prevented his further front line service. His assignment was then as adjutant to the Gen.Oberst F. Fromm, commander of the Replacement Army located in Berlin. He was present at the time of the attempted coup to remove A. Hitler and tried to guide Gen.Oberst Fromm in escaping from custody of the coup participants which the general refused. The outcome is well known. Rittmeister Bartram after the war served in the Bundeswehr and reached the rank of Lt.Col. I am fortunate to have in my custody his military estate. Bernhard H. Wouldn't mind seeing some more of his WW-2 related paperwork in its own thread.
