Stewy It shouldn't be as he never commanded Inf.Rgt 211. In 1940 he was commanding Inf.Rgt 37. The thing is it does look like it is 'trying' to say Alexander von Hartmann but it can't be him. Does anyone know who commanded Inf.Rgt 211 in 1940? If that is trying to be Alexander von Hartmann's signature then it calls into question the originality of the documents. I have a niggling feeling that they are faked. This is Hartmann's signature... AvHartmann Edited June 14, 2016 by hucks216

AvHartmann I´ve never said that it is signed from A v Hartmann. The document group is undoubtedly genuine. There are 10 documents from him, almost all his medals and his tunic. Kind regards Andreas

In 1938 there was an Oberst Arnold Altvater-Mackensen in command of SS-Junkerschule Bad Tölz and he did indeed command Inf.Rgt 211 from October 1939 to October 1940. Apologies for casting doubts.
stewy Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Yep, good call on that Andreas. Another for the database Kev. Stewy
dedehansen Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Hi Kevin, no problems another nice one Regards Andreas
hucks216 Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 So many variations. Arnold Altvater-Mackensen was actually also an SS-Oberführer who resigned from the SS in 1942. Here is a picture of him (post #5)... Arnold Altvater-Mackensen

Max Reck - Post 5 And here on GMIC
stewy Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 One I know Kev likes. GD seemed to record dates on the reverse more than most regiments. Stewy
hucks216 Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 There might be the odd ad-hoc typed up version out there but it would seem that GD only ever used that variant of citation. No matter if it was 1942 or 1944 I have not seen a different variant from GD.
