Chris Boonzaier Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 In my quest to get an EK doc for each Infantry Regiment I still have a long way to go... i dont think I will be able to do it... but there are sometimes intersting things to see for awards within a division.... Here is one to Hauptmann d. R. Münch, his EK1 for Flanders, I.R. 467
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 And just arrived, ont to Kriegsfreiwilligen Breithut, I.R. 466, Signed by Münch 14 000 000 men in uniform, literally hundreds and hundreds of million bits of paper being signesd in the period... its pretty funny to reunite 2 bits that have nothing to do with each other, but were in the same hands...
Laurence Strong Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Cool There must have been around 180 Divisions times three.....How many more do you need? Larry
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 Hi Larry, I doubt I will finish before I die.... I have about 400 infantry EK docs, but that includes Reserve and landwehr etc. My amin goal is to finish all the bavarian infantry, garde infantry... then work up... but you have to take waht you find, regts like those above, the "high house numbers" existed for a shorter time, ergo, the documents are slightly more scarce... I basically go for any infantry document I see.
Chris Boonzaier Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Aaaaarrrggghhh..... What an idiot!!!! I did not even really look at the 2nd document here ... just scanned it and put it on the "to do" pile... I finally looked at it yesterday.... it is a copy of an original.... What an idiot i am!! I am really learning.... check things when you open the mail !!!
padro Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Hi Chris just read this thread and I thought the name rang a bell. A couple of years ago I acquired a bunch of documents to this very man! Amongst the Patents, service histories and various other bits and bobs is an official copy of the document you showed us up front, so snap! In the early 30's he applied for copies of his service history and he acquired this at the same time. Here is his service record, you may find it interesting, he appears to have been hospitalised a couple of times with 'Neurasthenie' which I understand to be battle fatigue/shell shock. Unfortunately I don't have his EK2 doc to show you. Regards Pete
Chris Boonzaier Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 Hi Pete, another of our members has a few other docs belonging to him, He certainly did get around!!!
Ulsterman Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 ack! doh! The notation at the bottom regarding his EK1 is very cool. I think I have a photo of this chap as I have the regimental handwritten history of IR 467 with a photo album somewhere in a rabbit proof box.
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 Rabbit Proof Box ???? where do you buy those???
Ulsterman Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 at the hardware store...after the great rabbit chewing debacle of 2008 , where the Only printed Offizierverein Stammrollliste of IR 71/72/73 was chewed up and eaten...causing Rick to scream so loud that I could hear him across the parking lot...I put it all in hard plastic.
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 Must be a real rush on those just before Easter!!!
