Noor
Hi all, I would like to share and hear your opinions regards the painting below. I have had it already ca. 5 years. It is surely on the old frame and I presume it was made during the war or straight after as a patriotic piece. I think I have seen same postcards that must be used for a theme. It measures 37 x 27,5 cm. Signed by author but of course no chance to trace it this way Regards, Timo aka Noor
Chris Boonzaier
Interesting piece, a classic scene. Many "Hobby artists" copied popular postcards. This is a pretty nice one.

Bernhard H.Holst
Der Letzte Mann I think it's called... Hello : I agree. Theme I believe pertains to to the Battle of the Falkland Islands ( theearlier one) in which the Overseas Squadron of the Imperial German Navy under the command of Admiral Graf Spee was destroyed. padro
Yes I agree with earlier replies this is copied from a postcard made from an original painting by Hans Bohrdt called 'der letzte mann' ( the last man in english) and depicts the sea battle off the Falkland Islands on 8th Dec 1914.
