Dieter3 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Did you guys catch this one, I'm sure some of you did!!??? Just over $1300.00 U.S.
DavidS Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 thank you for posting the pics - wish I had known about the auction
Dieter3 Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 thank you for posting the pics - wish I had known about the auction Yes, I was watching with eagerness as the price climbed, and climbed! Definitely a rare piece, but I was kinda surprised by the final price! Still, sweeeeeeet.....
paul wood Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I know the price was strong but how many do you see? It is a far more attractive beastie and many times rarer than its Japanese counterpart. Paul
Dieter3 Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 I know the price was strong but how many do you see? It is a far more attractive beastie and many times rarer than its Japanese counterpart. Paul Absolutely. It kind of makes first class awards of the Rising Sun and Scared Treasure look commonplace! HA!! You're right, very rare and very attractive. More attractive than the Japanese medals? Well, it's more colorful, but of seemingly lower quality and far less attention to detail. But that's just my humble opinion!
JapanX Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I know the price was strong but how many do you see? Well, these are not that rare ... And 1300 for this piece without ribbon, rosette and box is way too much Two months ago one such order (practically in mint condition, but without the box) was sold in Moscow only for $330 This is what I call sweeeeeeeeet deal
Dieter3 Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 Two months ago one such order (practically in mint condition, but without the box) was sold in Moscow only for $330 This is what I call sweeeeeeeeet deal WOW! Only $330.00!! That is very sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
JapanX Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 WOW! Only $330.00!! That is very sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Naaaa $150 is a "sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet" deal and $330 is just another ordinary "sweeeeeeeeet" deal
paul wood Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Problem is getting it form Moscow to UK or US. I have seen items in Russian Auctions that are real bargains but I have been told that there is little point in bidding as it will be a nightmare getting it to the UK. Paul
JapanX Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 ... items in Russian Auctions that are real bargains but I have been told that there is little point in bidding as it will be a nightmare getting it to the UK. "Nightmares" and "real bargains" often come together
Dieter3 Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 SO, do we have a flipper? Unhappy buyer? Or, is this the same seller - somebody didn't pony up the money for the original sale? http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e138175869
JapanX Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 $1300 can easily make anyone pretty unhappy Well guys - looks like we all have second chance! Just remember $150 = "sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet" deal $330 = "sweeeeeeeeet" deal
Dieter3 Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 I just haven't gotten into the Manchukuo medals yet. Maybe someday. But it'd have to be a complete medal! What do the cases look like for these? Lacquered boxes?
JapanX Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Yep, black lacquered boxes with two columns of kanji and white (slightly cream colored) interior ;)
JapanX Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 or (another variation) black lacquered boxes with two columns of kanji and dark blue interior
